Before i post this i'd like to let you know that i actually like Americans. I lived there for a couple of months working just outside Boston. The people were among the friendliest i've ever met. Having a Scottish accent was a real blessing as guys would buy me drinks and the girls really dug it. So many Irish. And no jealousy among the guys when i danced with an American girl.

Anyway back to the post: How to freak out Americans

1. Have a foreskin.

If anyone feels the need to start up a How to freak out Scottish people then i'd like to suggest:
1. Be teetotal.

No offence is meant by this post.

I have an American friend who insists that circumcision is important for me, like that's the way God made us. He always brings up that dumb statistic that somehow says having a foreskin makes you more at risk of HIV.

Other than that, all other Americans I've talked to about it seem to think circumcision is vanishing in the past.

It has....A large number of male babies still have it done but it is increasingly being declined by the parents so it's not as standard as before....

I think starting in the late 1980's, the practice of circumcision has been declining. Still a lot of people have it done to their children, but the numbers are decreasing.

I looked up circumcision on wiki and read this:

Since March 2007 the World Health Organization and UNAIDS recognize male circumcision as an efficacious intervention for HIV prevention, while cautioning that male circumcision only provides partial protection and should not replace other interventions to prevent heterosexual transmission of HIV.

Also:

Circumcision predates recorded human history, with depictions in stone-age cave drawings and Ancient Egyptian tombs.

And tell your religious buddy:

Chiristianity does not call for circumcision. The first Church Council in Jerusalem declared that circumcision was not necessary (Acts 15). St. Paul had Timothy circumcised (Acts 16:1-3) but in his letters he warned gentile Christians against adopting the practice (Galatians 6:12-16, Philippians 3:2-3). While in most countries, Christians do not circumcise

Man i can't believe the thread has turned into a discussion about circumcision. The foreskin only puts a person at risk if the person does not clean under the foreskin. The smegma often hardens and attaches to the skin. The skin then breaks just below the helmet increasing the chance of contracting HIV. If a condom is worn the chance is reduced.

Therefore clean your *beep* regularly and practice safe sex.

If anyone doesn't do this already chances are they aren't sexually active.

Ways to freak out Americans

It IS disappearing in America. For the past twenty years, or so, the rate of children circumcized has been going down. My child will not be circumsized, period.

First, it's spelled Ottawa. Second, no, it wouldn't freak an American out. They'd just think you were stupid.

Personally I'd be impressed if you thought Ottawa was the capital. Most people usually guess Toronto. Americans on the other hand wouldn't know what you're talking about.

Yeah, but I only accept genuinely funny things. Lame, tired "Americans are stupid" jokes aren't so much funny. Very Happy

Not exactly promoting safe sex though is it.

No foreskin. Reduce your risk of HIV.

The real downside to not having a foreskin is reduced sensation and hence pleasure when engaging in sexual activity whether with company or by oneself...

I'm never converting to Judaism.

Out of interest: Do you find South Park funny?
