I dont know guys.
when you think about it.. the IPOD is the way to go..
you can store 300 Albums on it.. 7000 songs..
in a size of a ciggerette Box.. you can have a magnet clip in the car so you can stick it on in the car.. just like one of those phones.. plus it into the Cd player.. and BOOM! no cds, no MDS, no fuss, no mess.. and you have 300 Albums to choose from..
tell me how can you be better than that? |

Bigger than MD, shorter battery life, move moving parts that are can be broken easier, and a much lower level of durability while costing considerably more.
It's only real bonus is that it stores a truckload of songs in one spot. An advantage offset by MD discs can be easily swapped and are individually more durable than the iPod is. |

i have an ipod and a MD.
i can verify that MD's are not especially durable. i only like them for recording. hate the way yu have no digital output on the cheaper decks though.
the ipod is cheap! look at the prices of these korean 250meg mp3 playes - they are nearly half the price of a 10gig ipod.
i love my ipod - i am inseparable from it. lent it to wombat yesterday and had withdrawal symptoms all day!!! only problem with mp3 players is - the gaps between the songs. really irritating when songs are segued into eachother on the original album. |

300 albums. Great. Did you MEMORIZE where each album/song is, so you can zip right to it when you want to hear a particular song, or do you keep a paper list tacked up to the roof of your car? You can't tell me that's not a nuisance, flipping through that catalog until the ONE SONG you really want to listen to pops up....
MDs rule the day. Now we may move on. |

Actually Mack.. the search functions they have on the iPOD are pretty sweet... if you are looking for a particular song.. you can find it in no time.
And there are no moving parts on the iPOD as well (To answer a previous complaint)..
Its not perfect... but hell of a lot more convienient that MD... |

Maybe not on it, but there certainly are some in it. You think that 1.8" hard drive in there has no moving parts? |

No, we were talking in it. Moving parts, and other moving parts being very close those moving parts, and moving at very high speeds. Drop an iPod while the harddrive is spinning, and you run a very high risk to completely destroying it as the hard drive heads smash onto the platters. |

SarcasmKills,
I don't understand how anything could be more "convenient" than the MD. You simply must explain. |
