Plus tax and in the off season, yes.
You can add manila, hongkong, and singapore to that list too.

to the OP:
http://www.whypaymore.co.kr/home/Airfare/AirfareList.aspx

or if that link doesn't work it was whypaymore and their east asia page.
click the box with 동남아.

And China and Japan. Just about any country near enough. Then holiday time comes and it ends up being cheaper for somewhere further than closer. Case in point, last Chinese New Year's, $1200 or so to the Philippines, $700 to France, both roundtrip.

Tickets to Bangkok are available over Chuseok for 600K?

I would jump on that NOW.

Ttompatz,

Where are you getting these tickets to Manila? When i came to Korea 4 years ago I could easily buy a ticket for 350,000, but I haven't seen a ticket for under 500,000 anyting in the last 2 years...maybe this is the 300,000+ taxes ticket...

And as far as "offseason," I have noticed in the last 5 years that the idea of offseason has radically changed. It is almost non-existent. It seems Korean travel agents have gotten together to declare that it is always high season. I hate flying out of this country.

Cebu Pacific routinely has flights for 300-350k in the off season.
Hanatour will sell you a complete package for as little as 500k outside of the normal travel periods.
I often fly business class for as little as 800k to Cebu on PAL.

Whypaymore is showing tickets available for travel after Chuseok for as low as 300k

It is a regularly scheduled "charter flight" - 3 times per week each:
ICN-MNL and ICN-CEB.

Flight numbers are:
5J195 ICN - MNL and
5J1699 ICN-CEB and
5J1299 ICN-CEB

Call them or call your travel agent.

Compared to using Naver and booking your own, WHYPAYMORE is about 50,000 more. I don't see why you'd use them.

Being unable to read Korean or navigate a Korean site is one reason.

I seen an offer for Eva Air to BBK for 340,000 Won for RT travel between 01SEP2007~20DEC2007

http://www.xanadu.co.kr/eng/ticket/ticket_list2.asp

But it appears that taxes are a whopping 120,000 Won! Thats about 36% sales tax! Are high taxes the reason why airfares are said to be high when leaving Korea? I wonder if Whypaymore has an English version?

The more expensive flights for 500K to 770K don't mention tax in the rules sections.

I don't guess this qualifies to get drunk tonight on you, does it? Smile Have you called Kangsan Travel? They don't have much of a search feature on their website, but I would guess you have to ask around. Forget emailing travel agents, you'll get nonsense replies that take days to receive.
