I have had something like this happen to me also. The problem is their crappy English. Student named John calls me and says he can't have a class on Friday..so I don't go on Friday. It was the other John and he said the wrong day...so one John is angry for me not going to class and the other John thinks it is weird when I do show up and call him.

Text messages can burn you good...but the 12 years old for drinks story is great!!!

Great story!

That's publishable!

Maybe we will see it published somewhere?! This has to be the funniest part:

I created a specific email account ONLY for students. Never give out a cellphone to students - because of the confusion like this. Plus why do they need to call you anyways?

I'm gonna guess the OP took his phone out of his pocket and set it down somewhere in the classroom. Kids always go for these, start trying to get your number, etc.

The student probably thought it would be cute and funny to send a message to the teacher.

Well, he was half-right about the results. My students e-mail me like crazy. Ive managed to hide my phone number from them thus far.

Thanks guys for understanding. I have two new posts coming up I guess (I like the attention) - one about how I saved a kid's life on Thursday, and one about how I got in a fight with Koreans tonight for saying the dreaded 'f' word to my friend.

No lies, entertaining stuff I think, but I'm like, why does this always happen to me, and on a daily basis to boot, too?

I like ketchup.

I give my number to students if they want it. Just take theirs as well and put a little s in brackets beside it.

It was funny. A light hearted look at a misunderstanding ~

I've told a middle school girl I'd see her out at the bar. She knew me well enough to know that I'm a little airheaded and likely to make such mistakes.

(All friends and students with identical names MUST have their family names saved on one's phone!)

I've told a foreign teaacher here that I'd pick her up at her grandmother's house.

ROTHLMAO.

I've had some close calls myself where I've got texts from my students I almost mistook for K-girls. And yes, if you're texting a K-girl at the same time a student sends one it would be very, very easy to *beep* it up, especially if there's no 'Mr' or 'Teacher' in it. That's why I always register the name of anyone who texts me.

The biggest give-away that it's a student and not an adult chick, though, is that the message is far more likely to contain 'I love you' if it's a student.

My number's printed on all sorts of school docs and in the graduation albums. When I first started I think someone posted it in the dormitory and I had all sorts of curious students sending me messages. It's pretty easy for students to get if if they want.

You mean that you were _properly_ drunk, right? Razz Anyway, it was interesting story. I had almost the same experience once, but the lady in question was already an adult. The messages got a tad rowdy before I noticed that the person I was texting with wasn't the person I thought her to be.

OT: I've noticed your Bathory avatar. Are you a true believer or a poser? Razz I personally like "Blood on Ice" and "Nordland I & II" over their other albums.

It didn't really make me laugh, but it's certainly plausible. Just trite and sophomoric.
