Hi guys, I have worked and lived in Korea for 2 and half years and I must say its pointless for foreigners to live and work there! Firstly, most Koreans only want to learn our language but are not interested in our culture. Secondly, most Koreans are rude and inconsiderate towards anything different.

At present I'm in Thailand and I must say coming here has made me realise that Korea is like an asylum. Sorry to those guys that have been in Korea for years but you guys must be on crack or you are mentally retarded because who could live in such inhumane conditions. Guys, we are better than this, you dont have to tolerate rude behaviour, personally I like to be respected alittle bit, Koreans with all there education cant even grasp anything vastly different. They cant even experience different foods , they have to stay close to Korean restaurants.

Anyway, to all new teachers, dont trust them, all they want is your language and nothing else. Also, to all those Kiwis who love it there, we come from a beautiful country, better than that hole. I cant believe some of you koonts backing anti western sentiment from Koreans and who say that Korea is beautiful.

Come on the All Blacks!

I had to emphasize this so no one will miss the gift of laughter being given here.

That is a real gem of a post.

"Firstly, most Koreans only want to learn our language but are not interested in our culture."

So, did you see yourself as some kind of ambassador? Why would Koreans want to learn about Kiwi culture? Are Kiwis interested in learning about Korean culture? I honestly don't know, but I think you were expecting something a bit unrealistic.

It's not pointless for those of us who enjoy our friends (both foreign and Korean), are happy in our homes, relish our jobs, and can tolerate the silliness of some prevailing provincial attitudes. For every loony and xenophobe I meet in this country, I meet a warm, broad-minded person too. I don't care what my bus driver thinks of me personally, as long as he gets me there. I don't care what Koreans like to eat, as long as I can stock my kitchen with what I like.

I'm glad you're happy where you are, but not all of us would be happy in Thailand or Kiwiland, you know?

A lot of people say that about New Zealand you know.

A backward place full of slow people, a cross between beavis and butthead and emmerdale farm.

Nothing there, yeah its nice countryside but why is half of the young Kiwi population holed up 10 to a room in earls court in london if your counry is so good.

You get this from New Zealanders all the time 'yih mite, our countri is godzoane mite, bist countri in the werld to live mite'

Well why are you living here in England, 10 to a flat in harlesden?

Yeah the All Blacks are better than England.

But I just laugh when I think about the exchange rate, what is it now ? 24 NZ dollars to the pound! Cool

I agree that being out of Korea is like a breath of fresh air... but the way you presented it is bound to piss people on this forum off. First, people just dont like to hear that where they are living/what they are doing is stupid... even if its true ( for certain reasons, it is NOT true about Korea, despite a fair degree of truth in your analysis about the place...) Second, how is your current living place better? Dont people there just want to use you to learn English? Have they expressed an interest in your culture where the Koreans haven't? Third, why should Koreans care about our culture? I really never cared about Koreans' culture when I lived in America... just wasnt very interesting. Why should they care about ours when we're here? We cant hold any Korean to that expectation. You cannot provide a reason for such an expectation, I believe. I can say a reason not to have it is simply that people should be able to choose what they are or aren't interested in. Yes, from what I've seen, were it not for the money, there are many better places to be than Korea... but your points are all wrong.

I'm savouring both possibilities. It's like Schrdinger's Cat. (Click the link if you want some insight into quantum physics or you just like dead cats in a box. The wikipedia diagrams are priceless.

I knew it you guys are retarded! You have the utter gall to attack me for stating my opinion but I've looked at your posts and seriously you guys never stop moaning about Korea even more than I do! What a load of hypocrites! Stay there and smell the shit everyday and dont complain about blocked toilets or congested nasal passages (Kermo). You are welcome to the cesspit that is Korea!

You guys are deluded and seriously and most of you couldn't even successfully gain a position at Mac Donalds! . Laughing

Personally I think we're a little too over qualified for that. Enjoy your Mcjob in Thailand.

And with all your education you can't distinguish between the possessive pronoun that you should have used and its synonym indicating location. You taught what over here? Probably animal husbandry given that you most likely have a degree in tractor maintenance from Massey.

If and when you guys lose the thing, as you have been wont to do over the years, don't make an utter c#nt of yourself on the Khao Sahn Rd with the horde of savages you are most likely running around with and thus confirm what most of the locals there already think about your average 25 year old westerner.
