|
|
It seems Korea is quite impressed with New Zealand's "100 Percent Pure" campaign. Given that Koreans are a 100 percent pure race, is it any wonder? I guess the *sparkle* of the current campaign has faded. In any case, I wonder what the new campaign will be, unless they go the 100 percent pure Korean way and steal it outright. Personally, I think the country is unbrandable, at least in a positive, while at the same time, truthful light. Thanks in part to New Zealand's branding, I can't think of a place more different from Korea.
Korea's recent futile attempts to brand itself as some sort of tourist mecca remind me of the guy whose hair has thinned beyond help, but yet insists on molding and shaping his pitiful tufts into ever more ludicrous configurations, hoping against hope that he will one day stumble on the magic design that will fool those around him.
Each morning, you step out thinking you've finally done it! You look great, but the reality is this ...
Just shave your head and get over it, Korea. There are other ways to feel good about yourself. Your hair is long gone and it's never coming back.
I wonder, just how many ways are there to say 100 percent pure?
Clearly Korean, perhaps?

It's really hard to enjoy a read when the page is stretched out half a meter.
Pls do something about the photosize. Re-size it in drawing pad. |

A clean and green oasis, 100 percent pure, and the land of ``Lord of the Rings'' are some of New Zealand's signature images that have been shaped over the years, transforming the southwestern Pacific dairy country into the world's fourth most desired place to visit in 2006. How did this happen?
How about not berating and discriminating foreigners? How about not having xenophobic and racist attitudes towards foreigners for a start??

why are they pushing tourism? Korea needs to realise it has almost nothing to offer in terms of tourism whereas NZ is a mecca. |

I like the slogans in Murray's office on "Flight of the Conchords" better.
For instance: New Zealand - Why Not? |

Hey, I think Korean tourism department shouldn't advertise at all, whats attractive about Korea? It's like if I advertised my toilet as a beach resort. |

Korea would be better off marketing itself as a stopover destination (think Dubai or Hong Kong) than a destination in itself. Nobody in their right mind is going to plan a holiday with Korea as the destination. But, as the country has a couple of major airlines, and JAL is based not too far away, they should be looking at how they can market the place in that way.
I don't live in Korea anymore, and I would never, ever go on a proper holiday there, but I would consider it as a stopover on the way to Europe or somewhere.
A day of shopping, visit a palace or two and fly out.
From what I've seen of Korea's tourism marketing in Australia and Europe, they have completely missed the point. The main features of their advertisements are things like pictures of soccer fans and videos of young Korean guys breakdancing.
They've completely missed the point. |

Not to mention they advertise IN THEIR OWN FUCKING COUNTRY!!!
Guess what guys, you don't need to try to convince foreigners in Seoul to come to Korea. They are already here... |

Korea sparkling! Na, Korea needs some REAL marketing slogans to drag em in (based around Korean culture).
why not: Korea:
- 100% dirty
- 100 % polluted
- 100% deceptive practices
- 100 % xenophobic
- 100 % culturally insensitive
- 100 % abusive employers
- 100 % boring
- 100 % concrete
- 100 % kimchi and rice
- 100 % violent
- 100 % 2 seasons
- 100 % between a rock (China) & a hard place (Nth. Korea)
- 100 % anti - 'foreigner'
- 100 % nickel and diming
Feel free to help these guys. They need all the help they can get to get their tourist industry up over 100 people pa. |

A tourist slogan aimed at foreigners thinking of coming to Korea?
How about "Welcome to Korea, where you're Guilty Until Proven Innocent!"
I think it would work on both sides of the DMZ. |
