So today's my first day of work at a public elementary school and I just got tossed into one of those after school/special classes with no idea what to do. My co-teacher has no idea of what I'm supposed to do either. Any suggestions?

That grade level kids?

Some people have the school buy books and teach out of that. My school is too cheap to buy books.

I teach 1st graders in a program, so I usually start each class singing a few TPR songs like BINGO. Then I'll review some flashcards from last week and then introduce a new set of flashcards. I will then a game or activity that lasta about 15 minutes. I end the class with a couple more songs and review the flashcards a final time.

50 minutes go by just like that. Same thing, week in and week out. Activities could be arts and crafts, games, watching movie clips, etc...
