Normalcy- Is it a word?
I have found myself looking at the wikipedia entry for this word
Do those of you who use it say it to be clever? |

Perhaps you should check a dictionary. The word is attested to as far back as 1855~1860. |

It's not a malapropism. It was a neologism way back in 1855~1860. Since then, it has become quite an accepted word. Although languages are not evolving, they are changing. New words come into use in all languages and old words drop out of use in all languages. This happens all the time. |

In '97 when I first arrived in K-land, I was totally ignorant and insensitive to Korean culture.
My boss and I hung out together a lot. I ragged on him for admitting to being a 26 year old virgin.
When I asked why, he thumbed through the translation dictionary we always used and came up with 'normalcy.'
Not a word I'd ever use, but a word nonetheless.
I was proofreading a public school test once and read,
"Please remember me to your family."
I swore it made no sense, but was curious enough to look it up later. I definitely "ate some crow" there. |

You're probably right.
Got a particular album or anthology to recommend? |

I remembered the wrong group! I was trying to allude to Simon & Garfunkle's Scarborough Fair:
Quote: |
Remember me to one who lives there |
