Originally a group of us were going to make it down to Jeju thru Busan. Unfortunately we weren't as quick at getting ferry tickets as we were for KTX tickets so it looks like it'll be just Busan for us. Now, what I'm wondering is, what is there to do in Busan?

I don't mean just the typical stuff like the fish market, but something a bit more off kilter. Are there any themed bars there? Any amazing out of the way beaches? Arcades with six floors of games? What's foods should we try out?

I know scuba diving is available down there but is it worth it? Dry suit or wetsuit?

And finally, everyone likes walking around the red light district, even my no-sex-before-marriage Catholic friend. So where is the good one where you can see the girls from out on the street eating their jajangmyeon or wearing their 6" heels? Just want to walk around with a hard-on of gold, you know.

Texas street is the bit you are looking for, mostly fillipinos and russians, it's a cool place to hang out as well, you can get wasted with the sailors if you don't want to buy drinks for the girls. Korean red light district i dunno

Deokcheon a bit out of town has a red light district, a dog market, and the famous 'Hitler Bar' (there is a thread about it somewhere)

there are some pretty fly video game places in Seomyeon, but I haven't found any super bad ones, mainly cos i don't go to them much anymore

You could also probably get the ferry from next to the station to Keoje-Do which has some great beaches and lots of scenery, and plenty of cool stuff

I hit up Texas street at 10 am in December. No one was out, but some guy asked us if we needed a "woman for fun."

I recommend going to the beach and drinking. The mountain over the beach is nice, too, and has some nice overlooks.

There's lots to do but not really sure on what 'off kilter' stuff you might find down here. As for red light districts, there are several, but don't go out to Deokcheon, unless you want to find that Hitler bar (only heard of it, haven't been) as it's quite out of the way. I used to live out there, it's a boring spot. Haeundae has a much better red light district for strolling through. It's up a few blocks off of the beach, closer to the Westin Chosun end of the beach. Can't give you any better directions than that.

There is a game land behind Judie's Taehwa, in Seomyeon. It's called UPara. It's two floors of video games, soccer room, a batting cage, bowling, ping pong, massage chairs, PC rooms, tanning beds, singing rooms, gun shooting area, pool, billiards, darts, etc etc. It's right behind Judie's, across from Burger King. There is a World Carnival video game place on the first floor of the same building that has some newer games as well. There is also a UPara in Haeundae at Sfunz mall (a block from the subway station, Exit 1) which I assume is the same thing but I haven't been to that location.

Theme bars? I couldn't tell ya. If you want regular bars, then I'm happy to give you directions. Just send me a PM or reply to this thread. I recommend hanging out on Haeundae beach, but that's obvious. You could go to the aquarium while you're at Haeundae. If you want to hang out by the beach and drink at night, I think that Gwanganli is better. There are several bars that open onto the beach and they don't mind you taking your drinks across the road to the boardwalk. 'Thursday Party' in Gwanganli is always hopping on Fridays and Saturdays. And probably most of the rest of the time, given the holiday. There's a casino at the Paradise Hotel in Haeundae, as well, or there's Seven Luck in Seomyeon. As usual, non-Koreans only.

As for out of the way beaches, there is Songjeong beach which is not too huge and not too shabby. You have to go to the end Line 2, get off at Jangsan, and then take a taxi there. I believe there will be a contingent of surfers there this weekend, or so I've heard second hand.

Don't know anything about scuba diving but, as for food, while you're down in Haeundae you might work up an appetite gawking at the girls paying off their credit card debt. So, go check out Tace El Puebla. Walk out of the subway in Haeundae towards the beach and take a left at the first main road, about 1.5-2 blocks up. Walk past the SAVE ZONE mall and keep going until the street ends in a one way road. Across that road is a small alley and WonTae's shop is down there. Best Mexican food in Korea. Really nice guy and he speaks English as well.

Hope those suggestions tide you over. If I think of anything else, I'll post it. As I said, PM or post if you'd like directions around the areas that will be the drinking spots this weekend. Specifically, Pusan University Area and Kyungsung University areas, which are easy enough to find on the subway map, but finding the foreigner bars take some knowhow. Asking random Koreans will likely not work. Cheers!

Yes, that UPara place was the same one being discussed as the laser tag place in that other thread. The one in Seomyeon doesn't have laser tag, but they do have those guns that shoot those little tiny white plastic pellets and a room where you and your friends can shoot each other. No clue about the Haeundae branch.

drinking go to PNU - pusan national university its the hongdae of pusan!

nampodong- is a great place to spend a day! awesome markets, much better than you will find in seoul.. also the galcachi fish market! is across the road from nampodong street, the market is behind rodeo nampodong
so its all their in walking distance for you..

some great sites to take in as a tourist.
TONGDOSA which is about 1 hour by bus ..
Taejongdae which is not far from nampodong

take a ferry cruise around the surrounding islands from pusan station
across the road from pusan station you will find texas street as the other guys mentioned hahahha
