I am currently a full-time student at Yonsei's KLI and living on my own in a studio apartment next to Ewha, in Daehyun dong. I can say that my rent is W500,000 a month, though there was also a relatively hefty key deposit involved. However, there are a number of hasooks right in my neighborhood, some of which are more like studio apartments and cost the same as my place, albeit without the key deposit or lease obligation. There are also hasooks up the wazoo just off the main road in Shinchon, on the way to Yonsei.
As for paying expenses, I work about 15 hours a week at a hagwon and tutoring. It is easier for me, with an F4, though I know plenty of plenty of people with C4 student visas who are doing exactly the same thing as me. I tried working full-time, but wasn't able to maintain the pace. This way is much more manageable.
PM if you need any more info or advice. |

Getting out of Seoul will get you something cheaper. Taegu University has a good Korean language program: 10 weeks, 4 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 700,000 won. From what I can tell it is the cheapest university language program in the country. You can also get pretty good studio apartments in the Taegu University vicinity (private bath, kitchen, etc.) starting at 2 million won for 10 months. |
Old old post I know, but I couldn't find anything about this program on their website. I'm probably just blindly missing it. Anyone see it? Anyone have more input on it? 10 weeks for W700,000 and I'm sold. |

Here is the website for their program:

Unfortunately they don't seem very responsive; I've e-mailed them a couple of times and they haven't replied. You might have to get a Korean friend to phone them and get some concrete and up to date answers. |
