I am going to cry.

Everytime i go out my friends take me to bars where the music is just abhorent.

Is there anywhere in Seoul that plays really good classical British Indie / Rock.

I'm talking about the Smiths, Roses, Radiohead, the Cure, the Clash type thing.

I can't think of any bands that are strictly that style, but there are a ton of indie bands around Hongdae. The first place you should try is probably FF.

I may need to clarify.

I meant a bar / club that plays that style of music.

Very Happy

The place known as 'The Bar' in Sincheon plays that kind of thing from time to time.

Club FF in Hongdae usually plays quite a bit of britpop/indie but it depends on the night. Sometimes they have a theme or live bands and then the mix can change drastically.

Why go to hear canned music when you can hear live bands?

The OP was asking about places in Seoul, not Daegu.

Many "Western Rock" bars have computers where they download your requests. You may not get everything you want, but you probably can get them to play a song or two or more.

Thirded, or fourthed....I dunno, everyone is saying the same thing. Funky Funky is generally a decent place, and will play all of the bands you listed, plus blur, pulp, suede, oasis, supergrass etc. It's like being back at uni, in the best possible way. If the songs aren't coming on, go and request them. It's a pretty chilled out, unpretentious atmosphere too, but the quality of live bands there is usually pretty poor. PM me if you want to head along sometime.

I would say the quality of live bands is much better at DGBD, and also not quite as freaky as Skunk Hell.

I got sloshed in Seoul Pub last week and realized that - despite most of the custom being from GIs - their jukebox sure does have some f@ggoty-ass *beep*. Never mind - got a few classics on it like Frank Zappa, Alice Cooper, Stranglers, Stones, but little if any Indie.

Ff and the place right above are the first that come to mind.
Aura used to play good stuff....

umm.....

If you're out of luck then go to a "CASS BAR" with your friends. They have an internet jukebox that has just about everything. 3 or 4 chunners and the night's music is all yours!
