Don't know about the RCMP, but for Toronto's police, the majority of recruits are somewhere between 30-35. That's not a proven stat. Just what I've been told my 4 good friends who are cops. I'd figure the RCMP would be about the same.

i don't know if they have age requirements...but i would say if you are over 35 and don't have any related experience you might be looking in the wrong profession

i also heard that one of the most important factors is how much of a pri-ck you can be

Dunno about the age requirement. I imagine they have them somewhere on the RCMP site.

My uni roomie did his RCMP training at their base in Quebec and was put into French immersion there. I think he trained for 2 years, then got put in his first posting. He was a bit of a rabble rouser, so when they placed him out in Carlisle (sp?) Sakatchewan, he knew it was his "punishment" detail. Got out of there and was finally placed in Toronto.

OPP is another good one to join. It has one of the highest pay scales and you have a bit better of an idea of where you are going to get posted. These days they prefer people with university degrees and they aren't even looking at people with the police foundations diploma like they used to.

My cousin married a guy who just graduated from the police academy (or whatever they call it now). He got his job with Niagara Region, not OPP, but they liked he had a uni degree on top of his police training.
