i find there are only two reasons:

1) concert info. Seoul has got to be the worst city in terms of promotion. half the shows i never would have known were happening had it not been for someone here posting info. And thanks for that! Keep them coming!

2) people ripping on Korea / each other / or any other thing. Quality entertainment. Boards here get plenty boring when people are trying to be too PC or "it's all good". Bah! Rip away, vent! Rip on me, don't care...

I read Dave's to learn about all events and new things in Korea like concerts, restaurants, bars, etc.

I like the news stories and cultural info posted on here. The recent thread about the racist website is a prime example.

I like to offer help to new people and veterans who have questions.

I usually skip over the trolling and flaming, it gets old. I'd rather watch a real fight, or WWE.

My opinion is that Dave's can provide lots of good information, although sometimes people abuse it (like anything else). Even as someone who's been in Korea awhile, there are always I didn't know about and it's good to hear about those things from other people.

For newbies it's a good place for them to start to ask questions, but the downside is when the same question is asked time and time again and there is no way to search for previous posts (at least without cussing out the search function on Dave's). Too much of the good information gets burried by the bs posts which is a shame.

1. It's good to read people's posts and see just what kind of people teach in Korea and what they do for fun.

2. It's something to do. And it's in my time zone. All my friends and family are tucked up in bed in England.

3. One thing I find funny is how seriously people take themselves. It's the internet, you've never met these people, probably never will.

4. Political discussion always ends up polarised. This is where people take their views a little too far.

5. Also helping out the new teachers, with the info that I know. Annoyed by the sadistic inmates here. Like the 'sisters' from Shawshank Redemption, perceived superiority that they've done it so can add nothing new to a discussion but no brainer posts.

On the whole, I read it because I enjoy it because I don't take it too seriously.

If you put 'and' in front of each searched word that narrows it down.

The Concert info is great. You can only live so long without punk.
Thank you RACETRAITOR.

Other than Beyonce and NIN, I haven't seen much concert info on here. Maybe I am blind. Or maybe I am just completely uninterested in the aforementioned two shows. Is there a thread I am missing? What are the upcoming shows?

you have to tell yourself beforehand that whatever you read here, you will still make up your own mind about it. when a person has no experience or reference about a subject, even something as small as a post can sorta solidify in their mind as their own opinion.

back when i hadn't been here too long a friend from home wrote me and said he was considering coming over. since i couldnt answer many of his questions i told him to browse around dave's to get an idea of what it was like. i havent heard from him since......(though ive been meaning to write him. im having a grand old time.)
