I have a pair of Shure E2C headphones. They weren't hugely expensive, but i still spent $70 on them. The cord is all busted up, one it has broken open and i see the wire and also in a seperate place there is another problem because if i bend the cord the wrong way i'll lose sound in an ear.
Anyway, does anyone know anything about rewiring yourself, or if i can get a place in yongsan or somewhere to do it for cheap?
Thanks |

If the short is where the cord goes into the earpiece then
you can just shorten the cord a couple of inches.
It should be a simple soldering job, but there are some things
that can go wrong. The contacts where the speaker
wire connects most likely won't be sensitive to heat and you can
heat them all you want, however if there is any kind of electronics inside
then you could overheat the electronics, but I think you
would only see this in headphones with ANC. If there
are any delicate electronics then you need a heat sink.
Use some cardboard to catch any dripping solder so
it doesn't harm the speaker if you can't get things in the
correct position.
A spring loaded desoldering tool is around 2000 won.
A soldering iron with solder is about 9000 won. |
