I live in Busan. It's difficult to get a read on all the bands in Busan. There are a lot of musicians and a solid amount of bands but something tells me the scene in seoul is a little "richer"

Anyways, the thread was about live music: I was in a friend's bar a couple months ago (i happen to play music), just kickin having a beer.
There is a guy that, has a bit of a reputation with people that know him (and it ain't good) who was sitting by the table beside me. His friend and him were talking about (well, mainly this one guy): His diatribe went something like this:

P: Man, you can't tell me...you can't even -farking- tell me that you care two farking sheets about those shit bands man. I mean...who sits and listen to that stuff??? [a nodding head, out of about 4]. No one is there to listen to the music man. People are there to dance man. Who gives a sheet about thos farking bands...
etc...

As a performing musician, to say the LEAST, it was a bit depressing. In essence, it's true; they WERE talking about a bar that is primarily dance music. However, to say that the bands were of no use or simply their to waste time, is a bit of a misunderstanding of what live music is trying to do.

rapier: I can agree with you that watching people who have an ego problem or are deluded as to their talents, are PAINFUL to watch. And trust me, they are even WORSE to play with....

and those people with long greasy hair who jumped out of an 80s time machine, well, if they look funny laugh at them. Be careful not to let how people dress affect their music.

And, as a musician, I would NEVER want to hear people say something that isn't natural to them. If they say "Damn that was great" that's cool. If they say "whoa...he blew that", fine; "I think he should have been playing the diminished 6th there"? whatever. I don't try to be something i'm not, i expect the same from you/they

I think it's pretty reasonable to say that expat musicians who are over seas are usually pretty genuine about their music. So, all I'd say is, enjoy it as geniunely as you can...that's all
