Why is it that even with experience it is so hard to find schools that aren't stuck on 2.0 or 2.1? Someone told me with my experience I should be getting 3.0...Yeah right! Most schools only care about how much experience you have at "THEIR" school.

You could get 3 or more easily. If you are really a woman (which I doubt). It wouldn't be teaching though.

also, at the KOTESOL conference in a couple wks, i've heard they have a job fair, are university jobs among them?

My problem as well. Everyone says you can get 3.0 easily but how are these jobs easily found? I have a year experience too but with only a B.A. most schools won't give you a big pay day.

Oh and when and where is the KOTESOL conference? Looking for some info.

universities hire for march 1st and september 1st starting dates, and yes, they are starting to advertise more and more lately, so now's a good time to start looking for one.

Another option to make 3.0 a month is to get a job with a light schedule, leaving time for working at a company in the morning or at night (legal if your boss agrees and you go to immigration and get it all sorted out) or some illegal private teaching.

Teaching is a business. Unless the school or hogwan can charge more for your teaching then there is a limit to what anybody will be paid. Often you see jobs advertised paying 3+ per moth, but when you read the fine print, it includes housing allowances and such. I work in a city of 140,000 and my wife and I earn 2.5 base and about another 2 in overtime. We work the hours and get paid for it. The OT is going to fund a year of travel and enjoyment. Hope you can find something that is worthwhile and pays you 3 per month. Smile
