Kermo said he was almost certain this guy was in SK, but disappeared after the interpol thing went up... good call!

Quote:
Police succeeded in recreating an image of his face from the photos and, thanks to tips supplied by people who responded to Interpol's appeal for help, identified him as an English teacher who worked at a school in South Korea.

Now we just have to see if we ALL will have to provide background checks now that this has gotten out....

http://edition.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/10/15/childsex.suspect/index.html

Quote:
Interpol said it now knows the suspect's name, nationality, date of birth and passport number, but it did not release that information in its statement. It said the man flew from Seoul, South Korea, to Bangkok, Thailand, last Thursday, with security cameras documenting his arrival at Thai immigration. Interpol again appealed for public help to track him down now.

arrival at Bangkok International airport at 15h26 on Thursday 11
October. (Interpol)

And this headline does not look good:

English Teacher Id'd By Interpol As Paedophile Suspect

If the guy didn't want to get caught, he could have stayed in Korea because:

1) not one news report by the Korean media about this case. Because they don't care.
2) no one would have turned him in.

As soon as he leaves Korea he's caught.

Lot easier to disappear in Thailand.

Bigger country. More land borders. A quick boat across the maekhong and into Laos. Easily bribable officials.

Strange how his passport wasn't flagged though if they have been tracking him for so long.

Right, sounds like they knew who he was before he left here....at least they should have been damn suspicious and gave him a flag....I bet they'll nail him now in Thailand before too long. Why do people like this have to give teachers a bad name..... Evil or Very Mad

Kudos to Kerms... Very Happy

Maybe Korean passport control let him through so he wasn't their problem.

I think you may be right I was thinking that same thing as I was walking to work this morning. The guy is obviously not independently wealthy as he teaches English (unless he just does it as a MO) he'll get snagged before too long....probably even before the end of the week. Now his sorry azz is in Thailand beating the streets for a job. If you are reading this you perv hope you enjoy prison..... Very Happy

That is just so scary. I know people complain about having to submit a background check, but I really hope Skorea decides to implement a requirement of that. Anyone working with young children should be required. I really hope they catch the guy.
Kermo, good job on spotting him. You'll probably never get thanked except by people on this board, but THANK YOU!

But if the guy was a Kraut on a tourist visa how would that help? Are they going to do a background check on every tourist and businessman?

I know he looks German, but they aren't saying, so who knows. Obviously people will slip through teh cracks, but Korea is not doing enough to protect their kids and the good name of teachers who came here to HELP kids, not harm them.

Who's that peter puffer that keeps sending perverted pm's to people? He uses various user names such as Rocky Rimjob and rumpunch. I think he's the man Interpol is after.
