Exactly my point. He's looking to get top dollar for his second hand merchandise. I have done some research on local korean websites and sites from back home as well and there looks to be only a max of $100-200 discrepency. Seems worth it to buy new and not risk getting screwed over for second hand, overpriced goods.
Also your comment about getting all these extras for free and it having great value is a joke. If I am willing to buy the body and a more expensive lens new , chances are I will get the filters and other stuff included in the deal for almost nothing extra to the seller.
Enough said. |
I am not here to argue. 2nd hand or not. I said that I will sell it to the person with the best offer and that is what I am doing. If you felt that I was trying to rip you off then you are mistaken, because that was not what I was trying to do and I apologize for the miscommunication.
Yes, I did say 1.3 mil won, then I got an offer for 1.4 mil won. Then, I proposed you 1.45 mil won and you didn't accept and that should have been the end of it. The deal is not finalized with anyone yet, since I don't have the money in hand. If the deal falls through, then I will take the next best offer, which is the 1.3 mil won. Now, everyone knows exactly where I stand with the offers. |

Did you say ok to the 1.3 then recieve a higher offer and changeyour mind?
If so that is dishonorable, but appears to be very common here on Daves Dishonorable Teachers Cafe |

Actually, he asked me what I am willing to accept. I said that I was looking for about 1.3 and before I got a confirmation from Kimchicraig, I got a higher offer. Kimchicraig agreed to 1.3 only AFTER I had the higher offer of 1.4. Which means I was not being dishonorable. Like I said before, I will take the best offer. |

Fair enough then.
I would take the best offer as well. Sounds like he was just a bit pissed off at to you. Maybe he ran out of boardmarkers or something like that. |

Just for giggles, I checked Danawa. This is what I found:
http://www.danawa.com/elec/prod_list/?defSite=DICA&cate_c1=842&cate_c2=843&cate_c3=0&cate_c4=0
Type: d80 into the lower, blue search box.
Looks like 1M will get you a NEW body and nice 18-135mm lens. This guy does seem to be trying to create a bid-war for an overpriced USED camera.
I say let him hold on to his "spare" $800-900 (what I'd offer) camera LOL.
And the software, well... |

Obviously you don't know the difference in the lenses between the 18-135 and the 18-200 VR.
Just for giggles, I checked Danawa as well and the price for my camera and the lens are around 1.8mil. |

Exactly my point!!! If you think the difference is just a little zoom then you don't know the difference at all. Do some research on the VR(vibrant reduction) and you will find out. |

if you want it, then buy it....
we would all do the same thing and try to get top dollar for a specialty item on the internet no? |

This banter is good for BOTH the buyer and the seller.
It gives the uninformed buyer a little information about what current value is.
For the seller, it keeps his ad from getting buried, because every time a new post is made he gets moved to the top.
If the geezer don't like it...move on. |

VR is overrated. it only allows you to hand hold the lens at lower shutter speeds without creating unwanted blur. as a technology, it's very limited, since you cant really use it when the subject is moving ... since at such low shutterspeeds, the subject will blur anyways. i have the 70-300mm VR lens and although i love that lens, i rarely use the VR.
1.8 million? on danawa? i can see both items for 1.58 million, genuine import, on danawa right now. go gray market (which i would do) and i'd get both for under 1.4 million.
so, i beg to differ on your final statement ... or perhaps you were looking at some other danawa.com! |

1.58 million... Yeah, I guess we were looking at different Danawa sites....

Comparing the two lenses between the 18-135 and the 18-200 VR, there is a difference. I never said that the lens will do miracles or give you the sharpest pictures, but the VR does what it's suppose to do. The VR was only mentioned because someone compared it to the 18-135. |

to be fair... there is also at least 1 other brand selling an 18-200 -- the nikkkor commanding a price premium.
It's a good lens.
If you had a d200, i'd buy for sure.
Anyways - good luck with the sale. You ought to get good money for the lens, but bodies depreciate so fast it's usually better to just hold on to them. especially now with the d3/d300 coming soon (driving all prices down again)...
You shoulld be able to get at least 650 (that's what i'd offer) for the lens and maybe... 500? for the body.
Also be aware that the offers you get here may be lower than other places... |

LOL ... your link is to people selling them as a kit. which is funny because 'kit' prices are jacked through the roof.
i'll see your 1.8 million, and raise you this:
http://search.danawa.com/dsearch.php?ut=&k1=d80&x=0&y=0
and this
http://search.danawa.com/dsearch.php?ut=&k1=18+200&x=0&y=0
genuine import, best price 1,583,000 = d80 (805,000) and 18-200mm (778,000)
gray market, best price 1,384,000 = d80 (689,000) and 18-200mm (695,000)
i was giving you the benefit of the doubt when i quoted 1.58 million, since your gear is genuine import ... but without a warranty, you can get it for 1.38 million.
and, ironically, you managed to go to danawa.com and find the HIGHEST price possible as your 'quote'. yes. your 1.4 million selling price sounds great compared to the highest quote you can find!
bravo *golf claps* you ought to sell used cars for a living ... or perhaps work for the US government. |
