|
|
Hey all,
A couple of my grade 2 middle school classes are way ahead of the others (due to class cancellations) and I don't want them getting too far ahead. I'm pretty bogged down paperwork and open-classes at the moment so I don't have much time to search and prepare something.
Anyone got any good ideas/activities for a 45 minute filler class?
Cheers. |

You could create a couple of battleship game boards on word. All you have to do is make a table. Put 5-10 names down the left side and 5-10 verbs on the top. They have to make a sentence to ask about the spot.
YOu can really do it with any vocab/gramar structure. mes-english.com has a good template.

In 45 minutes, they would probably have time to do it twice after you took the time to explain it to them. Minimal prep, just copying basically. |

| If you have a computer monitor that works and a good internet connection try Grammar rock on Youtube. |

BOMB GAME! Damn, my kids love it. Choose something to review and review it.
Hold on, let me find the post where I described it...

You will have to make the paper with points/bombs on it, but that's really it.
NO, I haven't played it with middle schoolers, but I've played it with 3rd through 6th graders and they ALL liked it. ALL of them were equally enthusiastic about it. I think it'd work. |

I've got a .zip file with some pictures/templates/etc for making a big board bomb game on one of those big green felt boards:

The .ppt one on Rob's site is great too!
Don't underestimate the Big Wheel .ppt when used with some authentic Korean material: I did it for "Who's this?" --> The kids loved it. |
