When I visited Pusan, in the Haeundae area, there was a small red light district with some scary looking Korean women calling out at me from beneath the red lights and if I ignored them, they'd say things like, "If you're only going to look and not buy, then what the *beep* are you staring for!" Is there such a red light district in Seoul? |

You'll be "glad" to know that red light districts exist in any sizeable city in Korea. In smaller cities there are still da-bangs, yeoinsuks, "business rooms", anmas, escort services, coffee girls and barbershops which also cater-for. In a big city like Seoul your "options" are at least doubled.
It's great to see that the crackdown launched in 2004 is working so well (sarcasm). The law against prostitution was a mere measure to calm down foreigners outside the country complaining. There is no interest among the Korean elite in clamping down on prostitution. It is absolutely rampant and will be for the forseeable future. It is one of the greases which make the Korean internal economic engine run so smoothly. |

it's funny how the red-lights of the district are actually pink. they are the same colour light used by butchers. both sell meat. pound for pound, though, the beef is more expensive. |

Yeah, I dont get what the appeal is with the red (pink) lights. How is that a turn on? Its kind of distracting, if you ask me. I dont know from personal experience, but how can a guy concentrate on getting it up with such an annoying distraction like those lights? Plus, the women arent usually too appealing to begin with. Seems like it would be better if they were "no light districts" |

Better in Thailand. Cheaper and the girls are more attractive. |

Pink is a warming color. You really don't want to see how washed out these women look, do you? |

LOL ... doesn't red light help make meat (both kinds) look better?? hides bruises, old age and other undesirable elements??
interesting topic ... and there's heaps of red light districts in seoul. many are small, but some are much bigger. there's a big one in mia samgori and another big area in cheungmuro.
i was looking at the stories that you posted, and interestingly, they've got photographs of the girls at the bars and outside the red light windows.
... that's what i want to know about. how the hell would you get in there and photograph it without having the mafia chase me down the street and knife me in the ribs??? LOL
seriously, i'd love to photograph a red light district! |

Dude over at Metropolitician (I am blanking on his name) did. Email him, ask how he did it.
And yes, I was serious about the pink light. They'd look a hell of a lot different under the cold glare of fluorescent. |

So are room salon girls considered prostitutes? I've never been to a room salon before but I heard some guys in my office talking about how hot the girls were. I thought they just sat there and poured your drinks and got you all hot and bothered. |
