A few days ago I came up from the subway at Hoehyeon (near Daeango street - spelling may be wrong), anyway, there was a guy who was playing music from 2 speakers that were on either side of a box. Inside the box there were 3 jumping puppets. The puppets appeared to be made out of paper, and their legs were made out of an elastic-like material. The crazy thing was that they were jumping to the music. Upon further observation, I realized that these puppets were not attached to anything, nor were they hanging from strings. I walked around the box and confirmed that there was absolutely nothing keeping them up. Has anyone seen these? How do they work? This is keeping me up at night! |

These were sold on the street in London a few years ago. I worked on Oxford street for a couple of years and while having my ciggy break I saw a huge range of scams being operated on the shopping public.
They certainly look like they're dancing to the music(I think due to a ultra thin length of near invisible fibre and a special machine inside one of the speakers which jiggles the puppet), but a friend bought one and it was just the paper puppet and nought else, didn't even dance. Cost a fiver too. Cor blimey guv, what a rip-off! |

My korean "just a friend because her daddy don't like foreigners" g-friend and I got caught out by this type of thingo at the local Jinju lantern festival. We both bought one (2000 W each) only to find that they are just cardboard cut-outs with string-wool legs. The secret is the fine fishing line. I don't know how the seller fella didn't wet hijmself laughing seeing us squatting on the dirt trying to get 'em to 'dance'. |
