I know the tailor thread has been done before but I'm just trying to collect the most up-to-date info I can for a co-worker going to Seoul for a week in November. I'm hoping to find answers to the following:

1.The phone # for Korea Custom Tailor (considered to be the best tailor in Itaewon- the same side as and about a half block west of Hamilton Hotel)

2. Phone numbers and names (and directions) of any other tailors you would vouch for. (I know there's a thread on this already but like I said I'm hoping to get as up to date info as possible).

Thanks a bunch.

I also have tailor questions. How much does it cost to get something made? For example I have this dress that I really like the style of. It's just below the knee, wrap around style. Nothing fancy. Now if I picked out some material and got him/her to make a dress in the same pattern, how much would that cost? Ball park is ok.

I have been using the same tailor for about 3.5 years now.

He moved his location and changed his name recently, but I can say the quality is pretty decent, and the prices arent bad either.

The only beef I had with the guy was once he had a new tailor working and they didnt make the pants the way I wanted, however he did fix it on his cost, and shipped it to me at his cost, and that's the kind of service that goes a long way.

Shirts are like 30,000 won, pants like 90,000 won, forget sport coat/blazer think mine was 150,000.

Now I am a tall guy, with broad shoulders and so this guy needed extra materials, yet didn't charge me extra.

Here is the info:

Ontario Custom Tailor
(in World Arcade - Itaewon)

The owner's name is: Paul and he speaks both English and Korean, pretty nice guy.

Phone is 02-796-8124 and his Cell is: 016-391-6726

He also makes dresses and long coats (he made a dress for my stepmom/coat for my dad when they came to Korea)

Anyways, I know I am new to the forums, but I am definately not new to Korea (7yrs in now) and this guys stuff lasts quite awhile too.

Thanks Mr. P- is the World Arcade the one in the basement of the building that is between the Pizza hut and the post office? If it's not, could you post some brief directions? Thanks.

I'm off to Osan this morning (Sat.) with a friend. Oxford Leather Shop. (031)666-2054. Great price for leather.

Cheers!

I think you mean Song-tan, outside of Osan AB main gate?
Thanks HH, but the person in question for whom I am gathering this information will not be interested in venturing outside of Seoul for tailoring- fittings and final pick up will have to be juggled between the schedule demands of an international conference.

Sounds about right, it's near the Foreign Exchange Bank if I remember correctly. Usually I just call the guy up to pick me up, that way the other tailors don't harass me too much.

I used "Chongs Tailors" and was pretty pleased with the results. I got a skirt made for 50,000 won, and I provided the material, lining, etc. I also got a pair of pants made, he had a special on so they were 70,000, but I'm not too happy with them as they're not that funky.

If you want something "normal" made, tailors are good, but if you want something really orginal, or funky, buy a sewing machine.

This may not help the original poster, but for what it's worth, I paid 140,000 won today for a really nice 3/4 leather jacket. Very artsy looking and very warm. Very happy with the purchase. That's Oxford Leather in Songtan?? Osan.

Best of luck in finding a good tailor in Seoul.

Cheers!
