And lied about it, of course.
Seems to me this was stated on these forums as a virtual certainty, but the C/N-C faction denied it.

Rolling Eyes

Quote:
President Bush gave "marching orders" to Gen. Michael Dunlavey, who asked the Pentagon to approve harsher interrogation methods at Guantanamo, the general claims in documents reported in the book.

The ACLU also found that an Army investigator reported Rumsfeld was "personally involved" in overseeing the interrogation of a Guantanamo prisoner Mohammed al Qahtani. The prisoner was forced to parade naked in front of female interrogators wearing women's underwear on his head and was led around on a leash while being forced to perform dog tricks.

It is imperative that senior officials who authorized, endorsed, or tolerated the abuse and torture of prisoners be held accountable," Jaffer and Singh write, "not only as a matter of elemental justice, but to ensure that the same crimes are not perpetrated again.

when you do away with habeas corpus, and it barely registers as a story in the news, while Paris Hilton is on every channel, then the jig is up. Welcome to a police state everyone.

They have already said that, after the next terrorist attack (which they are already planning), martial law will be declared. It wouldn't surprise me if Bush cancels the next election.

Even with the Patriot act the US is one of the most free and tolerant nations in the world.

It is funny you are in South Korea who has a national security law far more harsh than the Patriot act.

Whilst I don't think they will cancel an election, they did order torture. May as well man up and face facts, America tortured(are torturing) prisoners who were interred without trial or due process

Since I don't see the world in black and white, that doesn't make them as bad as the terrorist, but they are definitly a darker shade of grey than before.

They will just fix the election so their boy Rudy gets in.

Those who own and operate the voting machines in key states are Republican.

Bush is just a figurehead. No need for him to continue holding office as long as the gang is still in control.

I'll also take an early bet that Rudy doesn't win the next election. Lets make politics fun!!

You pass the not-seeing-the-world-in-black-and-white test on this question.

Bill Moyer's and Guests (A Discussion On Impeachment)

Impeachment ... the word feared and loathed by every sitting president is back. It's in the air and on your computer screen, a growing clamor aimed at both President Bush and Vice-President Cheney Idea

This week's news only agitated the clamor. The president acknowledged that someone in his administration did leak the name of a CIA agent to the press, but he said let's move on even as he refused to let his former White House counsel testify to Congress about political influence at the Justice Department.

So the talk in Washington was of executive arrogance. All the more so as the Democratic House voted to withdraw US troops from Iraq by next spring despite a threat of veto by President Bush. A public opinion poll from the American Research Group reports that more than four in ten Americans 45 per cent-favor impeachment hearings for President Bush and more than half - 54 per cent favor putting Vice President Cheney in the dock.

Are these the first tremors of a major shock wave or just much ado about nothing? First, let's take a look at the last time a president found himself fighting off an impeachment campaign. It happened less than a dozen years ago. And what was the issue:

PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON: I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky ... CONT'D
