I need some advice on where to find the health insurance rules.
Unlike most people who need to make sure they get health insurance, I don't need health insurance because I am covered by a military policy and get most of my care on the bases (or reimbursed for care on the economy).
My school's main office is telling my department that I must pay for national health insurance even if I am already covered by a better policy. Is there anywhere I can go to get this straightened out or am I stuck paying for a policy I don't need and will never use. It's a big enough chunk of money that I am concerned. I was surprised the school was fighting about this with me because it saves them money too.
Thanks for the help. |

I don't know ... but I am sure that it has come up for someone else before ... I think one thing I would check if I were you is if it is covered in the SOFA ... ie ask the question of someone in the military side of things ... I think it is sure to have come up before ... and they may be able to help you sort it out ...

I'm not sure if the military side can help me.... I have military health insurance but don't have SOFA status.... It's a very unusual case and would may not have happened before because the new health insurance rules just started (I didn't get it before)...
I'm looking to find out what the exact Korean rules are because I know that I haven't always had health insurance with other jobs here... |

The English website for the Korean medical insurance is
http://www.nhic.or.kr/english/index.html
I don't know if there is anything on there that can help ... But it may be worth talking to them and seeing what they say ...
