I've noticed Psychedelic has a lot of the issues he blames Korean for having.

1) Women CEOS
2) A Women President
3) Women who work, drink and goto room salons while their husband stays home and cleans/cooks/teaches the children.
4) Costco, Carrefour, Walmart etc ACTUALLY selling more than the usual 1000 Korean items you can find anywhere.

5) Western style education system

Guess that's all I can think of.

although, granted, he openly expresses his opinion in a very juvnille and overly pesimisstic way, with racist overtones, I still beleive there is at least some degree of validity to what he is saying, Cthulu. Just read the job information journal if you need further evidence of this....

Adventureman,

I'm a little surprised you don't see the difference here. I wasn't saying that there aren't a lot of problems in Korean society, but Psychedelic goes way beyond problems with bad employers. I've had no problems pointing out negative things about Korea (just go through my old posts), but I don't use it to condemn the Korean people as a whole in emotional blanket statements.

"that which will not catch on"

The idea that most Koreans, at the turn of the 19th century, decided that becoming a part of the Japanese superpower was better than remaining a part of an antiquated Chosun empire.
And also, after 1945, it was better to distance themselves as far as possible from Japan and once again form a union with the current superpower.

Brainwashing is a terrible thing.

As a salute to the previous post, a culture where money won't buy an education, but intellect and ability are recognised and fostered.

I always wonder if Korea really does need all those universities (some are nothing more than degree factories) but it could be that I'm just poor at doing the numbers in calcuating tertiary institutes/student ratios.

jae.

How long have you been in Korea? Judging from your list, i think you missed quite a lot of the latest developments happening in this country.
