Instant messengers were the hot thing some years ago. But after they morphed into many tentacled monsters I stopped using them. They were hogging screen space and computer memory. Now I am thinking of giving them a try again. Perhaps all those extra features will be useful in Korea.
What's your experience?
What features do you use?
-- I am not up on all the options, so PLEASE do not attack me like a rabid dog if I did not list your IM. |

Yahoo can be fun if you like those crazy chat rooms with IDs such as, "SexyAlice69" that ask you, "Do you want to see me nakked?".. and then if you respond, they come back with "see me at www.slutts.com" or something.. but generally MSN seems to be the best for interpersonal communication. |

No choice for Skype?
I just chatted with a friend using that recently. The video speed and quality absolutely kicks MSN's butt beyond all measure. I was shocked at how good the image looked blown-up full screen, and how high the frame rate was!
I'm going to get my family on that. |

I use AIM and Yahoo.
AIM because I've had it since 1999 and a lot of my friends use it.
Yahoo for more or less the same reason. I keep it around because it now includes users of MSN messenger, a program that I hated using. So it's a two for 1 deal.
I tried Trillian years ago and found it annoying and somewhat cumbersome. I'm sure that it has improved but I have no need to use it.
Edit: Skype is good purely for chatting. It's doesn't seem to work trying to use the webcam in my experience. I can see the person fine but the person can't see me very well. It's choppy...oh well.... |

MSN just cause it's what I've always used, and most friends and relatives use it.
Occasionally Yahoo! to keep in touch with gaming partners. |

Hmmmm I was thinking about this one for a long time. If you're both using skype, how is it they cant see you but you can see them? Maybe you're just so overwhelmingly cute you overload the internet? |
