OK, this is a War on Terror. Yes a War. Ok now these guys were caught and are being held on some mystery charges that we'll never know because America doesn't give a shit about human rights. So they are Prisoners. So now they are unbelievably called Prisoners of War. But no, because you give POW's some basic human rights. But by simple terminology they are POWs. You heap them together and they are POW's. People being held for the duration of the war (however long this might last for). There's no 2 ways of fudging this, you can't invent a new term to get round certain human rights laws. But obviously you can, if you're America.

what was a mid easterner be doing in Afganistan fighting for the Taliban?

There needs to be the enemy combatant classification cause they are different from just criminals and different from POWs.

the US can make a new classification and in fact it is not even new. The US used it in World War II to for those who were sent to do terror against the US.

For America it's been dressed up as, everything usually is, a"national security issue" to anyone who's not in the current state of a nodding dog, it's a legal issue.

It is a national security issue sorry Now way could the US justice system handle AQ .

and it woudl have to give out info on how the US collects info and US sources . No way.

I don't never to laugh or cry at this comment. I might try and do both. Maybe for some photo shoot they get a tandoori. Do they get breakfast slips that they need to hang on the outside of their door by 12am to be sure of getting their continental breakfast?

Oh it is a photo shoot . No proof.

Well this is better than you have

The Guantanamo Thirteen
Packing on the pounds at America's toughest prison.
By Manny Howard

Is America the only country in the world that could run a prison camp where prisoners gain weight? Between April 2002 and March 2003, the Joint Task Force returned to Afghanistan 19 of the approximately 664 men (from 42 countries) who have been held in the detention camps at the U.S. Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay. Upon leaving, it has been reported, each man received two parting gifts: a brand new copy of the Koran as well as a new pair of jeans. Not the act of generosity that it might first appear, the jeans, at least, turned out to be a necessity. During their stay (14-months on average), the detainees (nearly all of them) had gained an average of 13 pounds.

If you're tired of all the torture allegations, of hearing the media imply that handling a Quran without gloves on is the moral equivalent of beheading someone, and of all the hysteria about enemy combatants, you'll enjoy the Gitmo Cookbook.

Months after Dick Durbin's comments which got us started on this project, Gitmo is still frequently in the news. The latest mention is at Michelle Malkin's. Apparently Gitmo prisoners provided information about the London bombings! Not only are they not being abused, they are still providing relevant and valuable information. Read the article and check out the long list of links - Michelle has been on top of this story since the beginning.

The cookbook contains nearly 100 actual recipes and menus for the food served to the Gitmo detainees, along with interesting quotes and facts about how American soldiers are working every day to treat prisoners humanely while still getting the information we need to protect ourselves. ALL PROFITS GO TO THE USO. Read more details about The Gitmo Cookbook.

Baked Tandouri Chicken Breast, Mustard-Dill Baked Fish, Lyonnaise Rice, and Fish Amandine are just a few of the recipes you'll find in the Gitmo Cookbook. We've tested them, and they are inexpensive, easy to make, and delicious.

The cookbook is available for immediate shipment! Order your copy now for only $10.95!

The Gitmo Cookbook - helping you support the troops, mock the mainstream media, and eat like a Gitmo detainee!

If they've done something wrong then prove it. Military trials have been proved to be ineffective.

why are they ineffective? You expect demand the US to give out how it gets info and its sources? In terror trials no way.

As you've said they need to be kept out of harms way, with whichever way America can think of doing it. But if they've not done anything how can you keep them locked up. There's not even the old adage "Guilty until proven innocent here" They don't even get that luxury. Let's just hold them until they die, commit suicide etc. Nice and fair that.

They were caught in a war zone fighting for the Taliban. They have some rights but not all the rights of criminals .

and calling AQ pows is a insult to POWS.

Quote:
As discussed about 2 months ago. Bullets move really quick that's why they kill people. How on earth are you going to know who's been taking the shots? Maybe from now on everyone should write their names on their own bullets so we can make this nice and fair.

There would have to be a certain way to show this. But if the US has the proof then lock them up for 25 years.

Quote:
Cannon Fodder Yank 1: "Hey he took a shot"
Cannon Fodder Yank 2: "You're kidding me why would he do that?"
CFY1: "I have no idea, let's go and arrest him, and see if we can get some justice"
CFY2: "Yes let's"

Both run off with some handcuffs and an arrest warrant. Cue music!

Romantic scenario, I'm sure you could turn it into a hollywood blockbuster. I'd have Matt Damon as soldier 1 and Ben Stiller as soldier 2.

Well when the US can show it , put them away.

The US justice system has shown that it is not up to dealing with AQ.

The US is right to ignore anyone who demands that the US use something which doesn't work during war time.
