|
|
Thos of you working with GEPIK,
are any of you taking off the week of Christmas... the 24-28th? Just curious....
I was just about to book a flight home for the holidays when I was informed that my school wouldn't allow it because this is a normal work week. While I do intend to honor the contract, and be held to the same vacation policies as Korean teachers, I felt that this was pretty stringent given the importance of that week to many foreign teachers.
Just wondering if anyone else is planning to take vacation during that week? |

I will be at work, I hate Christmas and have no desire to "celebrate" it. I have a friend in GEPIK and she had it put in her contract that she got Christmas off and so she is off to Toronto for that week. Next contract include that if you feel so strong about it, play the religion card to help your cause. |

A few years back, my girlfriend (now wife) worked at a hospital.
Christmas day fell on a Sunday, so they got Sunday off.
Back to work on Monday as usual. Ho, ho,ho.
They normally only worked over half a day on a Sunday, so in reality only got 5 hours off for Christmas. |

It seems to be the norm that Christmas week is a regular work week with only one day off.
I should have had it put into my contract at well. It's my own fault for not recognizing this beforehand. Oh well... |

I'm with GEPIK and am taking my Christmas holiday beginning the 22nd. Had no problems getting the time off. Getting the ticket at a reasonable price may be something else though... |

Awfully expensive to go home for 4 or 5 days. It's just a day.
I'll wait another week and a half and go home for 3 weeks on my education office's dime. |
