From The Art of Wikigroaning:
Quote: |
The premise is quite simple. First, find a useful Wikipedia article that normal people might read. For example, the article called "Knight." Then, find a somehow similar article that is longer, but at the same time, useless to a very large fraction of the population. In this case, we'll go with "Jedi Knight." Open both of the links and compare the lengths of the two articles. Compare not only that, but how well concepts are explored, and the greater professionalism with which the longer article was likely created. |

Wikipedia needs to stop being the Internet Geek Encyclopedia if it wants to be taken seriously. |

Yeah, I was afraid it might be a little too high-brow for this forum. Guess that's what you get for having high expectations. |

I think that everyone knows wikipedia can be lopsided.
Instead of "wikigroaning," why not take the time to make the Nuclear Family entry better? That's what wikipedia is all about, anyways.
By the way, Family Guy is a very popular show. I bet it's read more often, and perhaps more useful, than the entry on Nuclear Family. |

Interesting...perhaps instead of "groaning" teachers could also take the time to make EFL in Korea better?
And if so many know how lopsided wikipedia is, then why does every Tom Dick and Harry on this forum continue to draw their "evidence" from it? Instant loss of credibility, imo. |
