|
|
I married a Korean and am working on an F-2-1 visa. However, my wife has disappeared and my visa is due to expire. The immigration people told me that I can not renew my visa OR exchange it for another (like an E2) until I produce either my wife or a divorce certificate (which requires my wife's co-operation).

I am not looking for advice, like "Talk to a lawyer, embassy, parents, friends, etc". I have tried all these things already.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? |

Heavy. Have you contacted her parents or family? I imagine I'd be visiting them pretty much daily. "Lucy, you got some e'splainin' to do!" |

Isn't it really easy for you to put her down?
I'm sure she didn't leave without reason. |

Whoa. She has you over a barrel. She probably doesn't want to get divorced as divorce has a pretty nasty stigma here still. A divorced woman, especially if she works and it's known she divorced, can have the effect of having all the married men in the company coming out of the woodwork, assuming she's now the company ho'.
You can't just leave the country and return with an E2? |

I assume that you have a copy of your wife's family registration book and you know her birth date and Korean ID number. File a report with the police that she is missing and took your money. Obtain a copy of the police report and contact an attorney to file for divorce and/or a civil case for theft. Have the attorney contact Immigration. You cannot be deported if you have an active case before the Korean courts. |

Isn't Korea now a "community property jurisdiction," unlike in the past? His money's her money. |

Agree with you there. Something fabricated very suddenly, that blog. Plus the OP has posted twice in the last year, including this post. | |
