I know it's a long-shot, but my friend is setting up a weekend retreat at "Spa Castle" to celebrate a birthday, and she is having a hard time finding accommodation. It's in Chungcheon province (the one just south of Gyeonnggi.)

If worse comes to worse, we could just go for the day and drive home, or zip over to Daejon or Gongju, but I thought maybe someone might have the inside track...

Thanks!

I've been there before. They probably have a condominium available and, if none are available, there'll be so many motels nearby. This time of year there shouldn't be any problem.

Near-ish Yesan is a place called Deoksan and a provincial park of the same name. There is also a hot spring there (Deoksan Oncheon ... sorry no hangul on this keyboard). It's near a famous temple/nunnery called Sudeoksa. Anyway, me and the missus stayed at a place there called Deoksan Oncheon Hotel or something, not too far from Sudeoksa. It was a bit of a step up from the normal yeogwan standard ... rooms were 70,000 but it was almost like a proper hotel room. The hotel had a restaurant in the lobby, and there were other restaurants outside, a mokyeoktang, and of course, night club/noraebang.

That's the best I can do.

I live right next door to Sudeoksa, probably about 15 minutes away. Welcome to the countryside. Rice everywhere. Not had the chance to go to a spa yet though.

Kermo if you want any help with finding accomodation then I could do some research, and get my co-teachers on the case, it'd be no problem. I live about 20 km away from Yesan but my co-teacher is from there and could make some recommendations.

Neato. Nice area. I'd live there. If you ever fancy a trip to Cheonan, pm me.

Oh, I dunno if you'd want to do that. Nothing sadder than watching a grown man cry.
