what would you say is the best pair of skates one can by?

i have some cheap skates right now and after two hours my right ankle hurts. i would like to get some better ankle support and an overall better skate. i've never owned anything past low canadian tire quality so i'm interested to see what an expensive skate feel like on the ice.

ccm
bauer
easton
nike
graf
?

first came micron then came bauer. i've been using the low-end (canadian tire) version of bauer all of my life. is the more expensive one worth it? is there a big difference?

actually does anyone know what the difference is between each skate brand?

My advice ... for what it is worth ... If you are in Canada ....

Check out places like "Play It Again Sports" or other used sports stores and buy a used pair of top of the line skates ... plently of life left in them and/or nicely broken in ... plus big savings.

I wanna see a kung-fu movie that takes place in an ice rink...with all the kickers wearing skates....wicked, that'd be.

Shoosh,

Ryst

When did Nike start making skates?

Haven't bought a new pair since HS.

CCM and Bauer were always the way to go back then.

Can you get Adidas and Converse skates now as well?

WTF?

yeah it does help thanks howie.

but i'm looking to know what the difference is between each skate maker, as a generalization. why bauer? why ccm? why easton? why nike? why not nike? actually i just heard nike bought bauer.

dunno, i've been buying bauer just becuase i've always bought bauer. no other reason. then my ankle started hurting and i thought, maybe there's a better skate out there?
