|
|
In the interest of singling out posters that do this board some good, I'd like to find out who your top five favourite posters are on Dave's, and why. The only rules are that you may not nominate yourself and you can not say anything negative about anyone else.
Here's mine:
5) SeoulShakin' ==> A newer (comparatively) poster who speaks from the heart, gives good advice and discusses things rationally. She seems genuinely nice.
4) JongnoGuru ==> Although he's been slipping lately, he is usually right on the money, tells excellent anecdotes, writes well and brings levity to the board.
3) Homer ==> He balances out the hardcore anti-Korea posters and is able to admit when he's wrong (a seldom-seen thing on Dave's). He also has a true love for Korea, which I admire.
2) Qinella/SPINOZA ==> A tie. They always have interesting takes on things (whether we agree with them or not), are very honest, smart/knowledgeable and they say what they believe, no matter if it's a popular view of not.

1) ttompatz ==> He is the most informative poster and he knows his stuff, helping everyone on this board while pi$$ing off nobody. |

1) ttompatz : A true source of factual and helpful advice. Acts like a professional and will provide no-nonsense advice.
2) Qinella: Makes the unexpected post in a thread. He usually has a very original view of things and stands by his beliefs...I appreciate his posts immensly.
3) The Beaver: Does not post all that often but when he does it is usually some very good stuff. He has a very good take on work here and especially on university positions. I feel he is a good example of what a teacher should be doing here (from what he posts).
4) jongguru: Does not post as much as before but when he does he does so with style and an off-the wall way that is refreshing here.
5) Kermo: Class act. All the way.
Oh and Hanson...thank you for the kind words. Much appreciated.

All those compliments, and you know I'm female. You just made my list!
I'm going to have to think for a while as I compile the rest of my favourites. |

Alright, here goes (in random order of course).
1) Hanson - Like I said, you made my list, but not only for that reason. We tend to be similar in our opinions, and I like that you aren't easily baited to fly off the handle.
2) Tzechuk - She's level-headed, friendly, and helpful, and I've never seen her tell anyone off unless they really deserved it.
3) Ttompatz - There isn't a better guy if you need help.... with anything.
4) Kermo/RSS - Two gals who are just pretty great (though we've never met). They both seem like strong, opinionated women, which I kind of admire. (Sorry I put you both together, but I didn't think you'd mind being linked to one another and sharing).
5) Timvas - More recently, he's been added to my list. He does a lot of good work with animals in this country, and recently helped find a home for a lovely cat I rescued off the street (and out of my garbage bags) a few weeks ago. Lovely cat. Great guy. I think he deserves more credit. |

Ha ha! These are popularity contests so lame - probably because I never get picked. Takes me back to high school. |
