I reckon 'as' is more useful than 'same' for English as second language speakers. It can be used simply with a noun or an adjective in a way that is not always correct but better than 'same' used equally incorrectly.
Here: I'll dislodge a few of the phrases that I hear now and then.
E=English
K=Konglish
1: E- 'I'm happy.'
K- 'Me same.'
Isn't it better to say, 'As me.' That would sound nicer.
2: E-'I'm a president of a company.'
K-'You same, I'm a president of a company.'
Would be better with, 'As you, I'm a president of a company.'
Please don't lightly teach 'as,' as part of your curriculum. Give weight to 'as,' as much as you would to 'same.'
Lest we all become victims of 'gangster ear.' |

As me? I've never said anything like that in my whole life. I will not teach what I don't speak myself. |
