I took the subway to work today. Riding on the line 6 line northeast, I was on the end seat. To my right were two empty seats with a vertical bar between them. Next to the empty seat was another white chimpanzee. I was reading, he was playing some kind of hand-held gaming device.
So this 40ish ajumma gets on and starts to back her ass up into the seat next to the other guy. She looked over her shoulder at him and, derriere midair, stood back up and shuffled over to the seat next to me. Again, same deal, pulling the plug on a sitting maneuver.
She strolled through the carriage and found a place between two Koreans. |

I was sitting in a half-empty subway car once, when suddenly, 15 squealing, energetic old ajummas and ajoshis (more like harmonies and harabochis) entered. They were evidently from the countryside, dressed like farmer types, and the racket and emphatic gesturing they made was astonishing. About 7 descended to the empty seats on my left and 7 to my right, sandwiching me in. Then, two harmonies came up to me and started squawking at me at the same time in really fast Korean. One of the ones sitting next to me grabbed my arm and pulled me out of my seat, so that her friend could sit down next to her and chat.
I was shocked and a bit amused. |

So? What's your point?

Well put.
Now if everyone took life in Korea like that and get some balls and some insight into Korean culture then we wouldn't see so much anti-Korean aggression on this board as we do. |

I have said this before, but i would like to round up about twenty or so whities, go to an end of the line subway station so the cars are empty, choose a car in the middle of the train, and just have the whities sit down with empty seats in between. Very curious to see what Koreans would do. Must video the whole affair of course. |

Yes Beej, that would be a killer idea. The number 6 line coming from the NoWon area late at night is always empty, so let's rally from there. For real! I'm definitely down for it.

I got on the Green Line in SW Seoul on Saturday about 1PM. Very crowded. I was hanging on a strap in the Retired, Handicapped or Pregnant section. When someone got up to leave, a tiny old lady with white hair gestured to me to sit down. I declined and let another person older than me (there are a few) sit. A couple of stops later another person got up to leave. The tiny lady again gestured for me to sit down.
Either she was a sweet old lady or she had the hots for me. |

I bet she was exposing some thong outside those purple elastic-waistband pants. Next time take pics, you tease. |

How does allowing yourself to be walked on like a doormat = having balls? I fail to see how being disrespected is an "insight into Korean culture." Maybe I'm missing your sarcasm? |

Anti-Korean aggression?! Hardly. Just because a few people get a little browned off from time to time, it's hardly a race war, is it? |

I went to a friends wedding a couple of weeks ago. I was suitably attired in a smart black suit.
At the end of the wedding when i was leaving the church i held the door open for an elderly woman who was entering the church. As she went past me she pinched my bum.
I felt dirty and used, but i liked it. |

This happens to me almost everytime I ride the subway. But I always assume it's because I'm GIGANTOR of a man, and any person who sits next to me is gonna get squished by my man-shoulders. I never realized it happens because I'm a whitey. *sniffle* |

One day I was riding the bus and I sat at one of the double seats. A few stops later an ajumma gets on and sits right beside me. Single seats in abundance and another double seat across the aisle available, she sits beside me... I was shocked. |

I wonder if on blackpower.com's forums they have these same threads about old white grannies not sitting next to the black man. |

Probably. I've heard black comedians talk about such phenomena. The funniest one was a story of a guy (can't remember which comedian it was) riding in his car on the Interstate. He looks over and meets eyes with a white lady in another car and she locks her doors! Like he's gonna jump out of his car going 70 mph and attack her. |
