|
|
Up until a few years ago, I had very thick hair- hair so thick it could stop a bullet. About a year ago I thought I could see some thinning, but I couldn't be completely sure and, wanting to stay in denial, didn't ask anyone to look for me.
Recently I decided to be more rational about it and ask others, all of whom have agreed that I have suffered some small losses, but so far no major advances have been made by the enemy; its only noticeable when looking closely and comparing it to the sides of my scalp.
Still, I decided to employ a powerful new weapon starting today: Propecia. I hate needing it at the age of 25, but I can't allow my casualties to become noticeable to anything but an in-depth inspection of the battlefield. And I have to realize this war won't be won unless I do what's necessary to win it.
I can't be the only one. Gentlemen, please share your war stories. |

My Dad has full thick hair and mine is paper thin and of little use anymore. My head is shaped great and I suit really short hair so I consider myself lucky.
Not sure why, but in the west our generation seems to have a large portion of us losing our hair. |

What's that?
I've noticed my hairline has been taking on an "M" shape recently.
it beats my dad's balding of the circle on top cleverly hidden by a ponytail. |

Important Information About PROPECIA
PROPECIA was developed to treat mild to moderate male pattern hair loss on the vertex (top of head) and anterior mid-scalp area (middle front of head) in MEN ONLY. There is not sufficient evidence that PROPECIA works for receding hairlines at the temples.
PROPECIA is for the treatment of male pattern hair loss in MEN ONLY and should NOT be used by women or children. |

you just might be one of those who look good with a little thinning. don't know how thick your hair was before but hair a bit thinned out can be aesthetically more pleasing than the overly thick neanderthal type hairline that begin where other peoples' forheads are at the halfway point.
as you know, not all people lose their hair in the same way. some guys lose just a little at the temples and it looks alright.
i wouldn't mind hearing a bit more about propecia. i'm assuming you've researched it. i know very little about it but is there any concern with it playing around with your testosterone levels? |

Trust me when I say I would not look good with a bald spot. Yes, some people look good bald- Michael Jordan comes to mind. Sadly I'm not one of those people.

This drug, generic name finisteride, was originally developed in a 5 milligram tablet to treat enlarged prostates in men. One side effect users noted was that their hair stopped falling out, and in some cases they even regrew some of their lost hair.
The company, Merck, then decided to repackage as Propecia in a 1 milligram tablet. They also quadrupled the price.
So I have the generic version, with the 5 milligram tablets. I cut it in quarters. This might mean taking 1.25 milligrams a day except that when I cut the pill I always lose some little flakes of it.
By doing this it only costs me 50,000 won for 4 months rather than for 1 month with the chemically identical brand name version.
All of this was confirmed by the doctor at the Int'l Clinic in Itaewon, so it's not just me saying this. That doctor also called it "the best thing on the market (regarding hair loss)". Here's hoping he's right...
EDIT: Testosterone levels shouldn't be affected- it's not listed as one of the side effects. |

You are in the right country for hair loss. Ever notice how most Korean men aren't bald? Well that's not true, they are bald but it's a huge shame for them so they get it covered up. You can get a piece made for your bald part that will last for one year. You never have to take it off. I don't really know how it works but it looks real and other than being a bit itchy at first it's all good.
Here's the number for one place, I don't know if they speak English but get someone to call for you and maybe they can direct you to an English speaking one:

The thing about the pills is that you've gotta take them for the rest of your life (or until you just give up the fight). At 10,000 won a month that's not so much, but still...
I've had a high forehead all my life. I was paranoid about hair loss from 18 to 33 years old. I've got an incipient bald spot developing, but fvck it - I'm 36 and have made it this far... |

Yeah, I am thinning quite a bit too. I worried about it, and then one day I said "F*CK THIS!" and I shaved it right down to the wood. It was funny, because I worked with about 70 coworkers, and I just showed up one day, bald as hell. The K-chicks put their hands over their mouths and said "Oh my God-uhhh". Hahaha.
I definitely feel better now. It gets it out in the open and shows that you are confident and don't give a rat's a*s about going bald. It happens to almost everybody. It's not the guys with shaved heads that look stupid, it's the guys who try to hide it by combing over, wearing a hat, ect. I bought a couple pairs of stylish eyeglasses to wear sometimes that compliment the new noggin'. I think having a bit of facial hair also compliments your new chrome dome. And you can even buy some funky hats to wear on those cold days.

hormone disruptors in the enivoronment.
also areas with high volumes of low intensity electromagnetic radiation, i.e. radio, tv waves, cellular phone, wireless internet, etc.
when added with stress, helps explain to me, how i sometimes see middle school kids in korea who have thinning hair and crown bald spots (girls too)...
in contrast , i often see older people with full and grey head of hair who tend to live in the country side where there are less electro, chemical pollution.
i suspect these effects manifest when the victim has been exposed at the puberty/sexual maturation stages of development. which is why generations who grew up (matured) in less polluted enviornments can still have lots of hair while living in polluted environments today...and vice versa... |

Mate. Don't go the way of the drug companies. They treat baldness like it's a crippling disease. That WANT you to think that you are less of a man and less attractive to woman.
You will be on Propecia for the rest of your life paying exorbitant prices. It may not even work for you and you risk erectile dysfunction. THATS YOUR TACKLE, MAN! Your hair or your old fella?
Just embrace it. Keep a short hair cut, shave it off. It will take time to adjust. Even when you start to lost hair, you can still graft a good hair cut despite losing hair, for a few more years.
Going bald isn't natures fairest card but it's definitely not the end of the world if you don't let it be. |

Wife and I visited her cousin out in the countryside.He's 40- ish are pretty bald at the front.
He pops out for a bit,comes back with his wig on.He totally looked a different person.Combed in with his own hair,it looked very natural.It connects to your own hair with clips.
It was made from human hair,is good for a decade and set him back 800.000 cash.
He seemed really happy,so,money well spent. |

Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy. |

Ten dollar a month is hardly expensive- I can afford that, even for the rest of my life.
But what's this you say about erectile dysfuntion? You got me worried now. Please elaborate... |
