Hi,
About how long did it take for you guys to get settled in to a teaching gig in korea? I'm talking about from the actual application submission up to the point where you're actually sitting in your apartment in korea...
i'm hoping to come to korea in May at the latest, but I'm not sure when exactly is a great time to start submitting applications. The threads i've read have varied; some guys are saying they started teaching within a few weeks, another guy said it took him a YEAR to get started up. |

IF you have everything in hand (re documents) it typically takes 12-21 days AFTER your new employer submits everything to immigration and you land in your apartment.
The problem lies in the fact that most newbies do NOT have their required documents in hand when they start looking and that delays the process by weeks or even MONTHS.
IF you are graduating this coming spring (I'm guessing MAY?), plan on starting your job hunt in May and getting over here in July.
The thing to remember is that you can't even be considered until you have the bare minimum in hand (as compared to coming sometime in the near future.
The HARD COPY of your degree, original-official university transcripts, scan of your PASSPORT, and potentially now your FBI (or other police service if you are not American) criminal record check are must haves before you even start to apply for jobs.

| i finished my degree this month, my graduation ceremony is in december. returning to the USA on Christmas day...planned on just kickin back in a part time job for extra money till i get to korea, but it sounds like at least now i'll have some errands to run in the meantime. exciting times... |

| My first resume went out December 19th and I arrived in Korea on January 21st. Just over a month. And that was with getting my visa before comming. |

| Same for me--it was almost exactly one month between posting my resume and landing at Incheon. I had all my documents in hand, and I had the visa in my passport when I arrived. |
