I was just reading another thread on how dynamic Korea is.
It got me to thinking how bored I was, and I was wondering if anyone else knows any other 'famous'ly funny posts on Dave's.

Please entertain me. =D

Does anyone else agree that the weirdest 외국인 thread has lost all it's humour?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I first visited Seoul in January of 1998. I was getting around W1600/US$ when I exchanged my money. Stayed at the President Hotel across from City Hall for like $50 a night. Went to Itaewon one night and the bar was pretty much empty, save for a few US army guys and a few juicy girls. The girls were so desperate that they even tried to chat with me.

This was hilarious. First of all, you have to know juicy girls. I pictured this big overweight guy with really thick glasses, and a back pack full of computer books and space novels, shoes untied, pens in the pockets, etc.. etc...

JUICY GIRL: Hey, you, big boy, niceeee back pack, what kind that is?

GUY: Well, I got it at Wal-mart last year, you see, it was my birthday, and my sister gave me some money, and I drove down to walmart, it was a super center, and I chose this one because I can carry some orange juice in this little pouch. See, it won't spill out.

JUICY GIRL: You handsome man, come ovuh here and talk to mee! What yoh nameh?

GUY: Well, okay....MIKE...I am Mike (sits down but pens fall out of his pocket) Uhh whoops....hey....do you need a new pen, I got these at Walmart as well......

JUICY GIRL: (To herself) SHEEET, STUPID IMF, SHEEET!

Thread title: Canadian Hucksters Very Happy

Posted by: demaratusinTW

Date: Wed Jul 04, 2007

"Yesterday we cam to a hill with youknow, some cerasy canadian guy sitting in a car no gas.

He asked us to roll 'em up the hill and we said we'd help if he's tell us where ad good bar was. Then a korean guys said they'd do it.

Why do koreans always bud into others' business here amd make me fighting mad?

So i told him DO IT, F)#*r, and the guy stole my wallet, found out.

Pissed big time now, canadian guy in on it I guess. See if i'll find e'm at Man to Man and if it's one of you guys, gwill snap bones."

...Awesome.

This recent scooter thread was quite funny. When the OP was accused of passing out while driving by some Koreaphiles it became even more amusing.

I was driving home from Kangnam in the wee hours, sun coming up. I had been drinking, yes, so I shouldn't have been driving. But, I wasn't really drunk. Could see straight, primarily.

Merrily made my way home and then suddenly I found myself lying in the middle of the street. I was confused, obviously, having just woken up from a vivid blackout dream. (If you've ever blacked out or passed yourself out, you know what I mean.) I was actually kinda cozy and, like most people when they wake up, just wanted to go back to sleep. I didn't realize I was in the street until it dawned on me that horns were honking and the sound of speeding tires was whizzing around my head.

Yep, please take that in: the only help I received was people beeping their horns at me.

After I got up, I was freaked out, so just got back on my bike and drove away. A few moments later it dawned on me that my iPod had fallen out of my pocket. I pulled over and looked inside the scooter: the heinis I had bought to bring home were gone, as were the 4 packs of signature series Dunhills I was delighted to find earlier. Damn. Oh yeah, and my gloves had somehow come off, too.

So I turned around and tried to survey the road for those things, but really I was so disoriented I didn't even know where the accident had happened. So those things are all gone now. Most importantly the iPod. edit: *beep* me, just realized my watch is now gone, too.

The injuries: road rash along the bottom right side of my face, a huge gash on the heel of my left hand, cuts and gashes all over both hands, road rash on both knee caps and holes in the pants, and, most painful, ribs on the right side aching so badly I can hardly move around. Also, my face and head generally hurt, especially when I open my mouth.

I've tried in my mind to recall the incident but cannot. I guess when you black out you lose memory of events immediately prior. And with the weird arrangement of my injuries, it seems like I'd been beaten by midgets with meat tenderizers. My best guess is someone came flying out of a blind alley and careened into the side of me. That would explain the right-side injuries. It couldn't have been a case of running a red light, because the event happened nowhere near a traffic signal.

I'm still boggled about how the hell my helmet came off. And my gloves? That's really weird.

It's really hard not to get angry at Korea in general at times like this. All these people flying past me, not a single godamn person could take a moment out of their Saturday morning to help me up, maybe call an ambulance. Unbelievable. And of course whoever the scumbag is that hit me and kept going.. gosh I wonder if anyone took his license plate number and reported him.

p.s. if you know of a good walk-in clinic or hospital near haebangchon, please let me know. Gonna try to swing by one tomorrow if I don't feel any better.

So, this is a bit strange, but I'm desperate. Two weeks ago I met a girl in Itaewon at Geckos. She was Pakistani American I think she said. Anyhow, I felt like we really hit it off, I haven't felt a spark like this in a long time. I got her number. The next morning I went to call only to find I had lost her digits. I've been sorta looking for her since. Scanning crowds in Itaewon and Hongdae as well. The weird thing is I know tons of people who have met her. She is very smart, funny, and is often chatting with people, but no one has any contact information for her. My friend suggested I post here, b/c someone is bound to know her. She is pale, has brown eyes, long wavy hair, not that tall, maybe 5'3, exotic looking. I know this is crazy, but what the hell, I'm done with Korean gals that can't have entire conversations with me. So, if anyone on this board knows her could you please have her PM me, or could you PM with her number? Thanks in advance for helping my love life.

I am approaching the end of my contract. I am English, so I can't get any pension rebait, so I was wondering if I can get a tax rebait when I leave. I got some kind of rebait in January for the tax I paid in 2006, but my school seems to be implying I wont get one when I leave in August. Does anyone know what the deal is with tax?

Thanks in advance

Even more funny is huffdaddy's new avatar. So when are you going to add the smokes, beer...? I was looking forward to seeing that.

Too bad you can't add the runaway Korean Ghost in the picture who removes said helmet, gloves and Ipod. What else was missing? Laughing

While this thread has provided some laffs, I must say it's a bit of a let-down so far.
Dave's has been around for what, ten years or something? And all the funniest threads are from the last two weeks?
I challenge the long-timers, and the archivistically inclined, to dredge the ancient mucks of memory and cheap online-storage and start plucking out those truly golden nuggets, from the good people long-since dead or gone. Come on, you oldies who ain't got Alzheimer's yet! Come on, you nubes with nothing better to do! Dig, dig!
Me, I'm off to go watch some very important TV so I'm exempt from the above call-to-action.

The thread where the lad fell of his motor bike, threw his helmet at an ajuma and then tore her phone up and threw it on the roof.

An all time classic.
