I really want to check out the art and/or history museums in Seoul or Gyeonggi-do. Can anyone tell me where they're located (subway line, stop, or bus route)?

Not art museums, but there are these:

I can heartily recommend the robot museum (my hardcore Christian friend got freaked out becuz the introduction is something about people making robots so they can play God. Blasphemy!)

They're all in Hyehwa-dong, which is line 4, two stops north of Dongdaemun Stadium. There's also a science museum ("Nobel Science" is the exhibit presently) next to the palace, on the way, walking from Hyehwa.

Lonely Planet Seoul has them listed, most with maps.

Thanks for the quick replies, guys! Looks like I'll have to break down and buy a Lonely Planet after all.

Hoam Art Museum is in the southern part of Gyeonggi-do, in Yongin: http://hoam.samsungfoundation.org/index.asp

There's a toilet museum in Ilsan, Goyang city. Not sure if that's in Seoul, or Gyeonggi-do.

This one in Incheon looks interesting, although I've never been. It's the "Sudonguksan Museum of Housing and Living," and it has mock-ups of urban life from the mid-20th century: http://www.icdonggu.go.kr/museum/

Two I really enjoy when I visit Seoul are the Korean Army Museum at the Korea Military Academy (Nowon-gu) and (north of Seoul) the Bow & Arrow Museum in Paju.

The National Museum in Yongsan is quite nice; I could spend days there if I had the time (but living a few hours away makes that kind of difficult).

Yep, the War Museum in Yongsan is great. The first half, which is the military history of Korea never ceases to amaze me, but the second half, which is just about the armed forces is kind of boring. However, the first part makes the visit worth it. I've been there 3 times now.

Samgakji or Noksapyeong station and then look at the map to see what exit. Samgakji is closer.
