Man discovered these a few weeks back.
7,000 Won and you get (usually) a decent range of films to choose from.
Your own private cinama room with a nice leather sofa, great sound and a decent sized screen.
Free popcorn and cofee / cola / tea
And when you go there with the missus it seems anything goes!
Awesome! Some of the best nights out I've ever had.
I don't have many stories to tell yet bar the obvious one in line 5 which I'll leave to your imaginations.
Anyone have any good dvd room stories to tell...? |

Eh I've been watching Korean DVD's at em lately, they're not bad i guess. I end up going every couple weeks, there's some good movies out there that I can't go see in the theaters due to the language barrier.
I guess I'm boring if I go with my gf we just end up watching the movie. |

| DVD rooms are sperm receptacles. Proceed with extreme caution. |

One of my female friends didn't know the stigma behind DVD bangs. She went there one time with her boyfriend and another guy. She said the people behind the movie counter kept giggling at them.
The next night she went there with just her boyfriend. And then 2 days later she went to it with her male neighbor. When I told her what usually happens in the DVD rooms she said "OMG, that explains all the strange looks and giggles I got when I went in. The first time I went in there with "Jim" and "Bob" we went straight to the porn section because we thought it was funny. Those guys behind the counter probably thought I was getting gang banged." |

The only story I have is one time that a clerk misdirected me to a room which another couple was already using. I went to the window and it looked like there might be someone in there, went back and re-confirmed in Korean the number, then went and opened the door.
They were amorously engaged and the girl gave out a funny shriek. But I couldn't see any skin...it was too dark. |

Ewww. Imagine all the other people who've said/done that. Unless they wash those rooms down with a sand-blaster, I'd prefer to get my nookie at home, where I'm not rolling around on someone else's spunk. |

Thay are actually wiped down with some sort of spray and a cloth afterwards yes.
Never been in one in Seoul that was grotty. In Busan a couple that were untidy but not unhygenic.
Nothing to get your knickers in a twist about. Sheesh, if girls don't mind, I certainly don't. |

When I first came to Seoul, I didn't know the dirty stigma DVD rooms had either. A girl even invited me to one. We watched the movie...seemed like the normal thing to do at the time.
Oops!
I still just watch the movies though, I guess I'm a either a bore or a romantic. Come to think of it, what's the difference?
And are there REALLY hidden cameras in them? Wouldn't be too surprised but do we have any proof of this? |

Hotel rooms are just as disgusting if you think about it. |

I know this sounds a bit "Letters to Penthouse" but it's true.
A shiny new one opened up in my town. I went with a friend-- a guy with whom I had a serious mutual attraction, but we had agreed stop doing anything about it.
We walked into a DVD room to check out the new one and pass a little time. We rented "Adaptation." We walked into our cozy cell and found that the ceiling and an entire wall were mirrored. I leaned back against the wall and accidentally clicked on a red light.
...
I can't find a tactful way to say the rest, so I won't. I've got to cop out. If Dave would find it in his heart to give a sock, I would consider it. Hey, maybe I should send him this story, and tell him I'll disclose the rest if only he gives me a sock.
It's not the only time I've ever fooled around in a DVD-bang, but it was absolutely the most memorable. |

all the ones i've been to, the windows have either been clear or blacked out but leaving a few inches at the top clear. it doesn't exactly feel like it's very private if you're in the middle of the hall. not that i haven't, but i don't feel very comfortable "not watching the movie" in that situation.
but then again, this is prudish gangnam perhaps. |

| I slept in one, once, with about 5 other people. We were in Busan and needed a place to sleep and we didn't really want to live the jjimjilbang, so hey. |
