hi
this is my first post...i have been offered a job teaching in suncheon. i was hoping someone might have some insight into hagwons there...more specifically the one where i will be teaching. if you have some words of wisdom i would be grateful to hear them.

Hagwons vary greatly from owner to owner. Hugely. You may want to, y'know, consider at least giving us the name of your potential employer.

Suncheon itself is a decent city. Lots of foreigners there. Also, there's HomePlus and they have beef.

you're right...hard to give info without any information. the hagwon is called the top junior english school. a friend who's been teaching in korea for four years told me i should ask them to speak to another foreign teacher, so i did. the email i received was vague though, and written in poor english...has me a little concerned. i am teaching in mexico now and want to be as sure as i can about my transition.

get a phone number... spend the money on a phone call... chances are a native speaker didn't write that email.... and if they didn't and you can't talk to one (who is not at work at the time) it's a big red flag....
