What songs have you heard in Korea that you were like 'what?!', and where?

'Murder She Wrote' Chaka Demus/Pliers - background music in a tv ad - some bunshik in Seoul.

I'm not entirely clear as to what this thread is about but...

There was this Korean commercial for, I don't know, some appliance or something. It was all mellow and there was this song in the background with the lyrics that went something like: "I have a mandolin, it makes me want to kill myself"

That kind of made me go "What?".

Walking down the street in E-dae, on a bright spring day in 2003, families and kids shopping all around me, I was listening to Luc Ferrari's amazing (and very quiet) Presque Rien on headphones when I heard, blasting from outdoor speakers in front of a shoe store, NWA's ghetto anthem Fuck the Police.

I got chills. CHILLS, I tell you!

Stopped by the Giordano store near Samgakji and was subjected to 2 Live Crew at a couple thousand decibels. Nice music to browse for sweaters to.

I was in a stationary store in gangnam surrounded by kids and they were playing some dance tune about giving blowjobs.

I found a bunch of songs written by my friends' band in a noraebang once.

Also, you gotta love the music blaring out of Record Forum in Hongdae.
