Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can help.
I'm looking for a nice restaurant in Suwon to take a girl to.
Obviously the regular korean BBQ style place doesn't fit the bill, and I'm looking for something a little more romantic than the family steakhouse (Outback etc). If anyone happens to know of such a place, that would be much appreciated. Think of the quaint Italian/French restaurant from back home, with a candle on the table etc. A phone no. too would be really wonderful to make a booking and ideally I would like a little English to be spoken as having to rely on my date's korean would defeat the purpose of "me taking her out" a little.

Thanks alot in advance.

PS. If you happen to know of a more upmarket place that fits the bill, thats cool too.. perhaps share average cost of a meal.(nothing to extravagent though, $300 for a dinner for two is a bit out of my pricerange)

Where in Suwon are you?

There's a fancier Italian place at the CGV movie theater in Ingye-dong near gallery/city hall. I can't remember the name of the restaurant but it's on the 4th or 5th floor. I checked out the menu it's in Italian and Korean, mood lighting, soft music. I think when I went in there to check out the menu, one or two of the workers spoke decent English or at least minimal English.

Also in Youngtong, there's Eric's SteakHouse, which is a good little joint and amazing slabs of beef cooked to perfection.

there's a really great old-school tea cafe just north of hwaseong south gate, on the east side... i forget the name, but they serve all kinds of tea (my favorite iced cinnamon tea) and you get free salty baked potatoes... not really a dinner place, but a great old-style korean cafe with lots of art and music... she will love it...

Their is a fusion restaurant just above Suwon station which serves quite good sea food dishes and it has a good view of the street outside the station.
