I want to laugh at her for not being smarter than a 5th grader (by a long chalk) but I might not be qualified because ... I've got to admit ... some of the science and maths questions on that show are pretty tough! My geographical knowledge just keeps getting better with time but my science and maths has become feeble but still just barely there, so that I know I *ought* to remember the answers but sometimes I don't.

Geez. The textbook yesterday had a world map. The kids (in an advanced english program, grade 5) had to identify Asia, Africa, the oceans etc. One kid couldn't even correctly label Asia. They were at a loss as to what ocean Korea was on besides the "east sea". Jesus christ. Does no one ever bother to teach them anything more than what Japan has screwed over Korea on? For all their love of soccer, no clue where Europe is, where South America is, etc.

It's not just the kids.
My Japanese teacher in Kumi pointed to South America on the map and identified it as Africa.
I thought it was a mere oversight until the following week, when she identified China as Canada.

The people in the United States probably aren't much better.
Half the high school students in the United States can't locate Japan on the map.
