Hi, I'm just wondering where everyone does their shopping. Everytime I go shopping, I'm usually disappointed by the selection for clothing. For example, I have no interest in purchasing slip-on shoes that are too small for my feet and force my heels to hang off the back end. Am I just looking in the wrong places? Enlighten me, please. |

The vast majority of clothes I've bought in Korea were got in supermarkets!!
Especially Carrefour. I'm not fashion-counscious at all so Carrefours western-style, casual-sports stuff does me fine. |

Bought some online recently (US company). Pretty good quality and fit etc. However, I got slugged with a 30% tax upon delivery. |

I usually order online from Banana Republic or the Gap and then get them shipped to a friend on the base (U.S address)....or I take a trip to Guam every season and go nuts! |

As far is the shoes thing goes, if your a woman and anything over a 250 korean size then good luck finding dress shoes. There are couple of places in itaewon that have dress shoes but they are ridcoulously expensive.
For tops I love to shop at Mango
And I've decided that the best thing to do for bottoms is get them made by a tailor. Dongdaemun has a huge materials market then you get your skirt/trousers etc. made up.

I bought my Fubu coat (not sure if it's real or not???) at the APM store in Dongdaemun. It's a big newer building next to Milgore.
There is a 'larger sizes' floor near the top of the store. |

I dont buy any clothes in Seoul. I go down to Song-tan / Osan and buy me some nice cheap western sized clothes. Also get some stuff tailor made.
Cant wait till Thursday when I get my tailor made trench coat.. Just need some Uzis to hide underneath them |

Tailor made: Itaewon
Casual: order online/wait till I go home/have mom ship me me stuff
Shoes: buy MANY pairs when I go home, lasts me a few years.
Underware: see above
I used to get t-shirts that fit, but my gut has gotten bigger and now it just looks too funny |

Ouch. That 30% is pretty hefty.
Anyone know what the cost of shipping would be, say from America? I've got a box of $60 shoes coming over.

I hate clothes shopping so the missus drags me out. basically all those categories above rule me out except for other as i don't live anywhere near Seoul.
So i shop at Migliore, Wintergarden and Ibros as they all have pretty good casual clothes. |

they did and his name was Halston and the other was Andre Kim.
Korean fashion is like a mix between 1987 and 1963. VERY conservative. VERY conformed.
Mr. Blackwell would approve.
Cheers,

mine is the only department store vote so far, usually grandmart or hyundai in sinchon. i prefer the organized atmosphere. when my husband takes me shopping, it's always crowded areas, like dongdaemun, where the prices are discounted.
since my feet are extraordinarily large, shoes are another matter entirely. even itaewon shops cannot accommodate me, so i shop on line (usually ebay) and have family send/bring them over.
being a comparably "small framed" foreigner (a roomy, korean size 66), as long as i'm not pregnant, i have no problem finding clothes that fit. maybe i'm not the only gal here who WOULD like to know where your very small wife shops. after-all, even in korea, if there's a size small, there's usually a medium near by. |
