|
|
I need brown paper bags for making popcorn in the microwave Alton Brown style. So far I haven't seen them anywhere at all. I've looked in lots of grocery stores, but I haven't checked any of the huge ones like Lotte or Homeplus yet.
Does anyone know if you can buy brown paper bags here?

What? I'm American (so i have no idea what you just said).
I want to do some creative cooking with my Winter Camp and making popcorn in the microwave with the brown paper bag is much cheaper. Plus you can add all your own seasonings.
I can have some bags sent to me - but if I can find them in a store somewhere I'd rather just go get them myself. Can anyone help me? |

Make your own from Kraft paper from the stationery store? Not sure if it's coated with something you'd rather not have in contact with your food... |

Well you could buy the popcorn that comes in a microwave bag, it's not that expensive. Or if you have access to a gas range just stick the popcorn in a pot (with a lid). |

I think mrsquirrel was suggesting, rather directly I might add, that you may want the paper bags in order to disguise the facial features of a rather ugly woman that you intend to engage in sexual intercourse with. |

I looked everywhere for those bags for the exact same reason you said with no such luck. Eventually, I had my mother ship some to me as part of my Christmas package. For those people who've never tried it, you should know that the popcorn comes out light with no oil and it tastes better than the microwave crap you buy at the stores. There's no comparison. |

I've never tried what the OP is suggesting, but they are also good for crafts, most must remember the paper bag puppets and valentine's day mailboxes.
I think when I'm home for Christmas I'll have to buy a couple of large packs and have them on hand for the "just in case" ideas. |

Had some experience with this technique, haven't you Mr. B? Did you know that you should wear one too, in case her's falls off?
You are are a very dirty sex-addict, Mr. B., and frankly you are debauched. I am ashamed I ever got into an argument with you about something I cannot now remember.
I think I need a shower. |

Get yourself a glass bowl with a thick plastic cover. Some even have a small air valve on top. Check for those. If not, you can poke some small holes in the top. Put some kernels on the bottom, just enough to cover the bottom. Throw that in the microwave. Works like a snap (although you'll need oven mitts to pull the bowl out of the microwave). |

Thanks everyone for your replies! I'm getting some brown paper bags sent to me in my Christmas package.
Since they're the type you'd pack your lunch in I'm pretty sure they wouldn't fit over anyone's head. Especially not in this country.
If I come across a glass bowl I'll try that method out. Thanks for the suggestion!
Off topic slightly: Anyone have a favorite popcorn topping recipe?
(The eggnog thread made me wonder what other delicious recipes you all might have)
Mmm. Popcorn and eggnog.

In Korea, in many cases, you'd need a lawn bag.
Seriously, SOME Koreans have huge domes. |
