Yo -

A job offer in Hwamyeong - seems lie this is in the middle of nowhere. Does anyone have any input? How long to Nampo-dong, the beach by subway? I'm trying to hold out for the perfect spot but getting anxious to find something/ tired of sending so many emails.

Thanks.

Maybe you should use the search function and search for "Hwamyeong" as this has already been asked two or three times in the last year.

To the beach, 45-55ish minutes (depends if you're going to Haeundae or Gwangan) but that's because you'll transfer twice. To Nampo-dong, probably an hour. Bring a book, it's really not that bad.

its quite far really from where the real action in busan is (seomeyon, nampo dong, kyungsung uni, haeundae, gwagali, PNU etc.) at least 35 mins to seomeyon (kinda central) by subway. its a relativley new area with some good shops and it looks clean enough. its close to the nakdong delta (some very nice scenery / water around there)

having said that, i wouldnt live there. a little too far out to be much use. anytime you want to go somewhere in busan you will have to travel some way and pay a big taxi fee as well.

Thanks Spyro, I've turned down the job offer. I a little neurotic about researching things but hopefully it will pay off

Does anyone know how clean the Nakdong River is around Buk-gu or anywhere below Daegu? Is it the type of river in these locales where you would want to go to have picnics, bike, jog, etc, or is it pretty stinky and dirty by this point? I don't see people talk about it much.

the nakdong has pretty nice views and some nice birdlife but you wouldn't want to go swimming in it. its famous for duck meat restaurants - try nakdonggang oreeal if you can find it. ask an older korean guy, they will probs know where it is

I've lived in Hwamyeong Dong, Woo Am Dong, Dongnae, Daeyeon 3 Dong, Suyeong and Hadan.

I felt that Hwamyeong was too far away from places of interest. I spent a few bob on taxis in my time there.

buk-gu sucks.
No after work life.
Don't take any job that's not in the center of Nampo dong, PNU or Kyungsung.

Just hold out until them.... Laughing
You'll see lots of jobs coming up in those locations. Big turnover, easy to find....

I don't live in any of the areas that Tiger mentioned and am enjoying life just fine. If you have to be surrounded by people and noise at all times, then yes, live in those places. If you like you home life to be quiet and peaceful you are better off living a little outside. A 30 minute bus or subway ride won't kill you if you aren't doing it every night.
