I have read a lot of information on this board regarding YES Youngdo and it has been very helpful. However, does anyone have any info/personal experience with the Pyeongchon/Anyang office? I've been offered a job there and am trying to get as much info as possible before making my decision.
Also, the YES HR contact said that there are 26 foreign teachers there, which seems to be quite a lot. Any thoughts on whether this is a good thing or a bad thing? |

I personally enjoyed having lots of co-workers. I worked for Yes Youngdo. We had 12 teachers on our campus. It made our gatherings outside work pretty lively. Only downside i could think of is fighting for the copy machine.. lol. |

I had a couple of friends work there about two years ago now...
they said at that particular branch, the communication was terrible and the school was dirty. It is one of the older branches...but this WAS two years ago...things could have changed. |

I think you could provide more information about your school. For example;
1. Did your employer provide you with a health insurance card? If yes, did your employer deduct the correct amount from your monthly salary and pay the said contribution to the National Health Insurance Corporation?
2. Did your employer pay into the Korean National Pension Plan? If yes, did your employer deduct the correct amount from your monthly salary and pay the said contribution to the local pension office?
3. Did your employer deduct the correct amount for income taxes from your monthly salary? If yes, did your employer pay the deductions to the tax office or "pocket" them?
4. How many days of paid annual leave were you entitled to? How and when did you use them?
5. How many days of paid sick leave were you entitled to? If you used a day of paid sick leave, did you have to work another day to make up for the hours you didn't work due to illness?
6. Did your employer pay severance pay to all teachers upon completion of their contracts?
7. Were you always paid on time?
8. Did your employer provide you with a pay receipt that clearly stated deductions, wages, taxes, pay period, date of pay, total monthly working hours and bear the institute seal?
9. Was your apartment clean and everything in working order when you moved in?

geesh! Some people have a life and don't have hours every day to spend typing elaborate responses. The guy gave a response to one portion of the OP's question. Give him a break. |

He could answer those questions in ten minutes tops. Some of them are Yes or No questions. I would expect teachers to elaborate on their schools a little more. They really should be talking about taxes, pension, medical, paid sick leave, paid annual leave, working hours, severance pay, and wages. Spanishnative didn't write about any of the aforesaid. If you're talking about a school, then go into detal. Help teachers make an informed decision. |

1. Yes.
2. Yes. Yes
3. Yes. Tax office
4. 10 days. split into two weeks after intensives in August and December. Although these holidays ended up being a little longer with national holidays attached. I ended up with more vacation time then stated. They're pretty good about keeping you happy.
5 3 days sick leave. you didn't have to make them up. You would get a bonus if you didn't use them. If it went beyond three, they would just deduct the hours you were gone.
6. Yes
7 Yes
8 Yes
9 Yes
Wow, this was a lot. I'm sure A46220 got this information in the contract they sent him over. Besides, I thought he was looking for information on the campus not the employer. Anyway, It's a good company. In the past my only complaint was correcting all those essays within the "prep" time alloted but I hear now they pay extra for that. It's very structured. After the first few weeks I generally went in without any major prep. Hope this helps. |

Are you Fing kidding me?
how much are you paying this guy to reply to your post? not a cent. This is the second post in two days I've seen where the OP bi9thes because the answers are not complete enough.
A more mature and appropriate reply to the guy who answered would have been something along the lines of, "Thanks for answering. Could you give me some more detailed info re: (insert your list of questions)".
I can't believe you actually got a second reply out of that guy.
Where's your common courtesy? Good luck in korea.
in my personal experience, only spoiled rich kids "expect" and "demand" things in the manner you have. For you and your ilk, I say, go work for SLP. It's a great franchise. when things don't go your way, mom will bring you home, don't worry...... |

Thanks for the info Spanishnative and Discostar23. Your 1 will arrive as soon as i get to Korea....
Im not sure what you are getting all work up about, PGF, as I was the OP and not garykasparov. Please stop making rediculous comments and pay attention.
Any information anyone can provide would certainly be helpful, both personal experiences about YES, as well as specific information on the Pyeongchon office and that area in general.
Thanks again, and if you know something, keep it coming! |
