I got this in an e-mail that was forwarded to me.

Hey you all
Long time no see.
How you guys been?
I have been busy..as you probably know.
Also I recruit secondary teachers from 2008 so that added me more
responsibilities. (YAY..........?!) lol
Just letting you guys know, there will be a workshop for a day on
18th..at the Everland.
(Yes, a day off from school...and 19th is election day, another day off!!)
This workshop will be for all GEPIK teachers (elementary, middle and
high school teachers)
I will email you guys again about this in more details.
Until then, please let other GEPIK teachers know.
Thank you.

Thank you guys,
I can see you guys have let other teachers know about the workshop as
I am getting sooooooooooooo many emails asking when the school is
going to know about this workshop as they are not aware of them.
Our office have decided on the date and planning at this moment.
My supervisors will send an official letter to the schools about this
workshop later this week.
I just wanted to let our teachers know first and earlier than schools
so they can prepare..
but I am getting so many questions.
So guys,
if you could, let them know schools will find out about this later
this week and our notice was just a notice to all GEPIK teachers only.
Also, its not at the everland, amusement park..near there..well at the
everland there is a resort...so that's where we are having our
workshops...(should have explained this earlier email but I forgot)
It will start approximately from 10am to 6-7pm..
anyway, more details will come when I get them.
Thank you

When did you get this?
Just this morning?
It sounds too good to be true (imo)
If this is legit...
why must they ALWAYS leave everything to the last minute? |

I got the e-mail this morning. I wasn't the original recipient. It looks like this email was forward to a bunch of other teachers before it reached my mailbox.
I wanted to hop on here to see if it was true. |

Received the infamous "you must go" speech from my co-teacher this morning. I saw the document in their hands so I know it's real. The person couldn't even tell me what the workshop was about except to say that all level teachers in Gyeonggi-do are required to attend. Not sure if that means some will show and others will just use it as a day off, but GEPIK will probably have a sign in sheet for people so they can find out who the bad boys and girls are, and put them on Santa's good and bad list... |

This is definitely legit. I'm pumped that we get a day off to attend a worthless GEPIK circle jerk. Not that I'm into that kind of thing...
But, it's cool we only have to work 3 days next week. |

I have the documents in my hands right now. There are 1,011 foreign teachers on the list that will be departing from 25 different locations in Gyeonggi-do to attend the workshop.
The event begins at 10:00am and ends at 7:00pm.
I was looking at the schedule and it includes much of the same that normally takes place at the different functions. I want to look at this positively, so I am going to enjoy the day away from school and take it as an opportunity to make connections with friends and associates. All in all, I must say they are trying to do what they can to help make foreigners feel a bit more of the holiday spirit. With that said, I think it will be worth the trip. |

I won't be attending. I have been here for 5 years. I don't need a lecture in Korean culture. |

Just yesterday my co-worker announced that there would be a "retreat" for Native speakers and their handlers on January 28th. He had the papers from the Gyeonggi-do office. I told that I would be on vacation by then so I couldn't possibly attend. Haven't heard anything about this one being held on Dec 18th though...maybe I'll get lucky and slip through the cracks... |

Any directions as to where it is?
Actual directions.
Is it meet at Everland or is it go down the back alley behind Everland and into the resort that way? |

There is a bus list and departure time schedule that I was given with numbers of teacher from each region of Gyeonggi-do. If you want I can post some of that information for people. |

I've heard nothing about this other than on this board and my co-teachers haven't said a word about it to me.
Just called the recruiter. She also knows nothing. De ja vu... feels like orientation all over again. |

I am walking distance so doesn't worry me either way.
