I think it was, actually. Most consumer electronics (if not all) ar GROTESQUELY overpriced in South Korea. It's a fair bit of helpful advice on Derek's part.

You can get a discman that palys all Cds (Including R and RW) and MP3's in the US for as low as $25. In Korea: good luck.

Now Derek, update your site.

Cheers,

Joe

Zuh? While some are priced higher, a quick look through Amazon.com and Korean online shopping sites show they are pretty much the same price. There is no advantage of disadvantage in where a person decides to buy a CD player other than considering retail selection availability.

Amazon.com and their fine selection of CD players starting at $47 disagrees.

Your facts are almost always wrong.

My arse in an upstate NY Walmart found CD/CD-R/CDRW/MP3 player was $25 and NOT on sale. It works like a charm and gets long life from the batteries. Earlier that day I was in Circuit City in Scranton, PA and they had one as low as $30 US.

So, like the addage goes "are you book smart or are you SMART?"

Not only do I stand by my post, but I prove you wrong.

Derek's advice was valid - thus ends the argument.

Yes, but it was only helpful if he wasn't in Korea.

No.

You, Joe Thanks, just like the Beaver, are 100% WRONG.

Hell, you even got the addage wrong.

Get your arts over to Becks site, or ask katydid-that's not how the addage goes, and as I was waxing philosophical Tuesday night, its all about what the femal wants.

I assumed he wasn't in Korea. His location says he's in Ontario, and if he were in Seoul, I think he might be able to find out the prices without having to ask here.

And yes... anyone who knows anything about small electronics like CD and MP3 Players in Korea knows they are overpriced (unless you buy a Korean off-brand piece of junk that often doesn't work when you get it home). The reason is that Korea doesn't allow companies to sell under their own name without taking a cut and adding a tax. That's why we have "Lotte/Canon", for example.

Ever try to buy Sony in Korea? Or Panasonic? Or any other well-known name?

You'll get nailed on price, unless you find a blackmarket store that is selling stuff illegally. Even still, you can get a CD Discman at Wal-Mart in the USA for like $30 -- not here! And it will work!
